KMPA girls to compete at the New Balance Games this weekend in the USA

The King Medas Pansy Adonis (KMPA) girls consisting of Kcaysha Medas-King, Kayleigh Jameison, Alana Moore and Anissa Moore, are registered to compete at one of New York’s largest indoor games, the New Balance meet, tomorrow and Saturday at the Armory centre in Manhattan.
After not so long ago completing a superb run in the 4×2 under 12 girls relay that got them a spot at the upcoming Millrose games, the KMPA girls are excited to get back in competition, in order to help promote Guyana’s track and field talents.
Andy Medas-King, the founder and organizer of the King Medas-Pansy Adonis Classic Games which is Guyana’s First ‘Junior Olympic Games’, is of the view that the girls will use these meets to get in shape for the indoor championships set for March 2018. Medas-King explained that unlike the athletes in Guyana where there are limited track meets he will be able to see where his athletes’ weaknesses are.
Medas-King noted that Kcaysha is now coming back from a severe hip injury and a track meet like this will both get her into the competition mood and get her mileage up within a competitive field, while explaining that things like these are needed for athletes in Guyana.
Andy Medas-King further noted that if Guyanese athletes want to go to the next level, they need to be given the opportunity to compete year round. Medas king posited that Guyanese athletes are the only ones that are off in December and explained that the mighty Jamaica are usually encamped during the festive period.
The KMPA Athletes are not all Guyanese but are made up of Jamaican and American back grounds, all coming together for one common goal of promoting Track and Field in Guyana. And, with the success of his girls, Medas-King is hoping that coaches and schools would put together more relay teams, something that is very rare in Guyana.
