Jammers punish NA Warriors 62-45 to march to semis of Berbice Basketball tourney

Rose Hall Town Jammers brushed aside New Amsterdam Warriors 62-45 in a Group B encounter to book a place in the semi-final in the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association 2017 Tournament for teams in Berbice.
The event is sponsored by Nigel Hinds Financial net and the most recent game was played at Rose Hall Basketball Court in Corentyne. Jammers enjoyed the early advantage in the game, leading at the first quarter 19-11 and when the half time whistle sounded the advantage was 29-21.
The visitors were still hoping to make a comeback, but the Jammers held the lead at the third quarter 36 -30 and romped home 62-45.
Malcolm Mickle 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, Kwesi Mickle 10 points, 6 rebounds and Romone Fogenay 9, points 5 rebounds 6 steals led the winners.
For the Warriors, Mickel Lewis poured in 22 points and had 7 rebounds, Perry Corts 18 points, 4 rebounds, 6 steals, while David Hope had 11 points 2 steals in a losing cause.
The next game in the competition will move to the west side, with Ithaca Hardliners taking on Fyrish Black Sharks at Ithaca Basketball Court from 16:00hrs.
Six teams are involved in the competition which is being played on a round Robin basis in two Zones. Zones A included Canje Knight, Fyrish Black Shark and Ithaca Hardliners and Zone B Rose Hall Town Jammers, Hopetown Stealers and New Amsterdam Warriors.
Trophies, cash and other incentives are up for grabs. The tournament is being organized by Vibert Garrett.
