City vendors today held a funeral service for Town Clerk (ag), Carol Sooba and a procession was led through the streets of Georgetown.

Many were astonished when they saw a group of people walking down Regent Street with a small coffin and a doll dressed in red, whose makeup was also neatly done.

The vendors sang a number of popular funeral hymns, including ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’ as they took the casket around with the doll inside.

They were begging persons to view the body because they were taking the dead to be buried.

During a press conference, Mayor Hamilton Green said the persons who did the ‘funeral service’ are unknown to him, as he labeled them “concerned citizens.”

The Mayor told reporters that it was a spontaneous move and the ‘concerned citizens’ group will be joined by other groups to carry out this type of activity.

He said this is a good thing, since the Town Clerk prevented law abiding citizens from entering City Hall compound yesterday for a meeting with himself and a number of other councilors.

ATTENTION YUJI22: Please provide an antidote to counteract the above.

Man’s head found in plastic bag a few yards from body

Workers attached to the Ministry Public Workers yesterday afternoon made a shocking discovery while clearing out a cemetery at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara. Hidden in a clump of bushes was the badly decomposed body of a man.

The discovery was made shortly after 16:00hrs. That particular area where the body was found is very desolate.
A few yards away a human skull and a pair of blood stained shoe laces were found in a black plastic bag. There was also some “heavy duty” tape wrapped around the bag.
Several other bones which appeared to be human where scattered around the scene because dogs had begun to devour the remains. Police sources have also said that a plastic handcuff along with a car mat was found in the bushes close to the body.
Ministry worker, Mark Phillips, told Kaieteur News that they were sitting on a bridge when they saw a dog dragging a black bag. He said that the contents of the bag gave off a bad scent. Phillips said that upon closer examination they saw it was a “human head”. The sight of what was inside the bag shocked the men, he said.
They then got up and went to where they saw the dog pulling the bag and found the other part of the body. The police was informed and arrived quickly to the scene.
Detectives who were summoned to the scene took a statement from at least one worker attached to the Ministry. Kaieteur News was told that the police had tried to get Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh to the scene to do a post mortem but were unsuccessful in their attempts.

A post mortem has been scheduled for Wednesday. The remains were removed by Lyken Funeral Home.
