¶7. (SBU) Outraged letters to the editor bemoaned Jagdeo’s failure to reach out across party lines, but it was unrealistic to expect him to bestow any ministerial positions on his People’s National Congress (PNC) archrivals after winning in a landslide. The grumblers never acknowledge that Jagdeo’s cabinet-which roughly mirrors Guyana’s diverse ethnic makeup-is 30% Afro-Guyanese. Although Jagdeo has committed to a vague “enhanced framework for inter-party cooperation,” he has never answered PNC leader Robert Corbin’s call for “shared and inclusive” governance. With an absolute majority in the National Assembly, the PPP has no reason to share its victory spoils.

Personal opinion, the PNC cannot expect to bully their way into shared governance. Though I do support participatory Govt, I don't support the PNC's way and means to achieving that. The PPP could have taken the high road to accomplish this from their positon of strength. If they do miraculously pull out a win, they will now be pushed into it as they will not enjoy an absolute majority.

Politically, not individual appointments. Giving jobs to handpicked individuals does not necessarily represent political participation.

This is why they have always bellowed the marginalization cry. The PNC and the AFC want Ministerial post and more than all Freddie wants a Highly paid job as political advisor to Dr. JAGDEO

By the way the Government was not in need of a WIKIleaks report to vindicate their position of equal opportunity for all.
I would really like to hear the opinion of the non Indians in the Public service..
Khem and Chris think this is an AFRO vs Indo thing. All of Guyana's ethnic groups are entitled to work in the Public Service.

Confirmed by Lunchman! And that there no Afros in Non-Indos is decision making positions. In Guyana's democary only one person, Jagdeo, makes the final decisions.

So tell us how many Amerindians make important decisions in Guyana. If you expand it the PPP begins to look even worse.

You just have to laugh at these people. They are so shameless. On the one hand they discount these cables as gossip - as the Gail Texeira and none other than the President did - and here you have paid agents like SJ4321 preaching selected cables as gospel. Talk about disorganised... dunno
