Inter school basketball fixed for New Amsterdam tomorrow

Schools in the New Amsterdam/Canje District will be engage in Basketball action tomorrow. The competition, which will be played in memory of Seon Springer, will be held at the Vryman’s Erven basketball court in New Amsterdam compliments of Ansa McAl Trading under their Smalta Brand.
Seven schools are down to participate including the six secondary schools and the New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI). The others being Canje Secondary School (CSS), Berbice High School (BHS), Vryman’s Erven Secondary School(VESS), Berbice Educational Institute(BEI), New Amsterdam Secondary School(NAMS) and Tutorial Academy Secondary School(TASS).
The competition will be played on a 5×5 knock out basis and will be for 30 minutes duration each.
On Friday February 16th the All Saints Primary School will be staging the Seon Springer Inter House football competition at the All Saints Scots Church Ground.
Seon Springer was former football and basketball player who died a few years ago in his early 20s. He started playing the games at age eight and played central defence for the New Amsterdam United and Basketball for Tucber Park making both starting line ups.  He was destined for more success when he died in his prime.
He attended the All Saints Primary and the NAMS. His mother Maxine Williams will be sponsoring the Football competition.  (Samuel Whyte)
