Guyanese athletes taking part in the Commonwealth games in Scotland are mainly of afro descent. Even though Guyana has more Indos than any other forms of humans, the team representing Guyana is devoid of any Indo name on the participation list. So where are these people? The polling boxes are always stuffed full with Indo voters, but real life representation of the country does not back that up. Is the PPP into mass rigging?

Thanks for the Info.

India continue with their fairytale run in the shooting events as Gagan Narang won the silver medal in the 50m Rifle Prone Men’s Final event. With a total of 203. 6 points, Narang finished second to Australia’s W Potent who got 204.3 total points. This takes India’s medal tally to 7 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze placing them at 4th rank in the medal table. Australia is leading with 27 gold, 21 silver and 27 bronze,a  total of 75 medals.

England continues to remain at the second position of the medal table with 59 medal(24 gold, 17 silver and 18 bronze). Host nation Scotland are comfortably third placed with 31 medals (12 gold, 8 silver and 11 bronze).

From the Indian circuit comes the great news as Jitu Rai and Gurpal Singh take the gold and silver medal in the 50m Pistol Men’s finals respectively. Jitu Rai finished with a total score of 194.1 points as his Indian compatriot Gurpal Singh bagged 187.2 points. With this India’s medal tally shoots up to 24 medals that include 7 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze. India also escalates to 4th rank in the medal table.[SOURCE:www.india.com]

Which just goes to show how Guyanese Indos are a lazy bunch. They rather pay somebody else to lift the weight than to do it themselves.

I also deeply pity Mr. T here.  Please forgive him, he did this post in bed.

Listen we can get into debates about why Africans have always dominated sports in Guyana aside from cricket.

The fact is that Indians don't run fast and don't jump high, and if Guyana wants to win medals picking Indians in these events isn't the way to do so. Trinidad I am sure had a team with the same ethnic composition.

Indians bat and are represented on the Guyana teams where those talents are needed.

The football team that Guyana sends to CONCACAF I am sure is also 100% black. It is what it is.

While racism is a fact of life in Guyana, and I am not shy in pointing this out, I don't think this applies to sporting activities, at least not in selecting who is selected to play.

Cuba sent a team of blacks and whites to the Olympics. ALL of the medals won by Cuba were won by blacks.

The Commonwealth Games is not just about running fast and jumping high. Those are just a fraction of the total amount of sporting events on show. There is shooting, long distance running, netball, judo, gymnastics, bowling, cycling, etc., etc. Even some Africans of Indian descent took part. T&T has Indian athletes there as well. So there is no shortage of Indians from other countries. But for a country like Guyana with about 50% Indos it is shameful we can't show anything that the Indo Guyanese can achieve.

There are at least 2 Indians on the Guyana team.  The T&T team, much larger than Guyana, because they invest in sports (their performance at the last summer Olympics being indicative of that), is also overwhelmingly African.

What should bother you is if this was a squad of kids going to a science competition there would be few African males involved, even though that it arguably more important.

When you wrote that Jagdeo AND Ramotar got urgent diarrhea and two planes were flown in to take them to FL.

2/3 of the population not Indian!

Don't do that again.  Guyana can't afford to pay every time the PPP panics when they see that a loss to APNU is no longer beyond the realms of credibility.  Assuming that APNU gets its act together of course.

The Afro Guyanese is not so interested as the Indo Guyanese in the science behind producing cocaine. The present Indo mentality is to start the kids off from young on the path of technical and scientific criminal acts.

Now you are making racist remarks.  FACT.  BOTH blacks and Indians are involved in drug trafficking.  FACT.  The vast majority of both communities are NOT involved.  FACT.  To suggest that Indians can be stereotyped as drug traffickers is RACIST.
