I lived in India and have come to the realization that while we say Indians look down on Guyanese, etc we should also know, Indian look down on other Indians within India itself with equal and even more disdain!

Baseman was treated with utmost respect and dignity while there.

Maybe, it's the caste system in practice. Brahmins won't treat chamars as their equals. I suppose you're chatree like me, somewhat high caste in that milieu, and that could explain the good treatment you got in India.

This has become quite an interesting thread,I have seem some felt neglected because they are not of any Indian blood, while others choose to dissect which Indian is better. Do we ever hear a White man says he is better because he is from Germany?? Last night there was an NAACP award, which was for ONLY Blacks, nobody complain and yet the Blacks felt left out from the Oscars, isn't that ironic ..One complex we as people suffer, we always think others are superior[white] , that was taught to us be the  White Colonials . In Canada there are more human rights laws to protect the Coloured we are free to speak out against injustices. My initial subject was to empower all Indians to aim high and  anything is Possible, I have two kids they are very successful, one a neuro- scientist, and the other is an Attorney, they are proud Indians.

First of all, no one has decried the fact one embraces their/an ancestral identity. The fact is you introduce a post with the definitive intent to say "we are better than you because look at where we are". It is a common habit and wrong.

All of humanity share the same identical DNA and are each of them are the same specie. The difference begins when we put on our  "cultural suits" and presume that on that account alone we stand above and beyond others. It is the reason we have humanity at a crossroads in global conflict and one of the reason we may destroy this planet or ourselves if we do not auto correct soon.

The NAACP is not an exclusive club. It has white members and accepts white members. It exists as a support group to facilitate the ending of exclusive clubs in politics and society.  Were the Oscars fair there would not be a need for an award show to acknowledge the works of others neglected by it.

White people do not need separate clubs. The struggle is to get into what they created for themselves differential on the labor of all and reserved as theirs. It is to break into these institutional "clubs" in business  that the NAACP exits.  It is to make America can be the best it can be. The NAACP has facilitated non whites break down walls that once restricted movement and distributed rights hierarchically by race.  We are here because of the NAACP and the breaking down of the color walls.

You should not need a "passport" to acceptance. That keeps 600 million people as expendable. It is the curse of intractable class and caste that denies the state the use of all of its best minds.
