There is a point. The Indian population is being decimated in Guyana under PPP rule. We are racing towards insignificance.

Tell me what is the PPP plan to arrest this. Because more of the same is the problem. The status quo is the problem for Indian people. We are already headed for extinction. Should we just continue with PPP rule and hope that magically things will magically be different magically?

Or should we start to assess our position and soberly find some alternative path?

In 20 years if another 10 percent run where do you think Amerinds will be? We make more babies and we never go anywhere. We will be around 140 thousand or more. I think our leaders need to be advising our people to put down at least three cassava rabbits per and we might just be able to get back our country in another 40 years.

Ayatollah, It is because of us, the Guyanese who live in America is causing the Indian drain from Guyana. We do what the India Indians do. We bring all the people we can over here. I know this one rich Guyanese who sold all his belongings to migrate to America. He has little education. What is he going to do in America? Fetch alloo and eddo bags on Liberty Avenue? He employed a few individuals giving orders. I wonder how he felt today? 

Let us not kid ourselves here dude. We ain't losing our richest and bestest. We losin everyone. We losin Indians who'd rather be illegal in Trinidad, St. Kitts, St Vincent, and Barbados. We are the Mexicans of the Anglophone Caribbean today. All under our "own" "Indian" Government.

The issue is quite simple. Most Indians I know don't wanna be here. They would happily be in Guyana if they could earn a living and not face the real possibility of getting shot in the head.

This is why Guyanese Indians like Florida. It's like Guyana but without the PNC and the PPP.

We Indians have to face the cold reality that we are a dying population. We are a dying population because of our political choices. At the root of it all is that we have an "Indian" party that is destroying Indians.

How come the Black and Mixed and Amerindian population seem to be rising? What makes us so special? Is it because the PPP is friggin us up?

If the Indian population was declining at such a rate under a PNC Government, you and I would be screaming bloody murder. That is a fact.

Indeed, Shaitaan, it's ironic that more Indians have fled Guyana under the pro-Indian PPP regime's 22+ years than under any previous regimes. However, while removing the corrupt PPP from power is now necessary, the outward flow of Indians from Guyana will not stop or decrease significantly.

Taking the long view of history, one will observe that Indians have become essentially a migrant people, starting from Mother India itself. Indian citizens and people of Indian origin are today living far away from India, whether in Australia or the UK or the USA or any other place. The process did not start with the mass transportation of Indian indentured labourers in the 19th century to Mauritius, Fiji, South Africa, South America and the Caribbean. It had begun since the time of the Buddha and that was how Buddhism and Hinduism spread to South East Asia.

One can say that Indians are a restless people with a wanderlust propensity.

Indians in Guyana have been moving onward to other countries particularly since the 1950s when they headed towards England. Indo-Guyanese are in many countries now, not only in North America and the Caribbean but also in the non-English-speaking South America.

Guyana is a temporary base and those with the means move out as fast as they can while others dream and hope for their turn sooner or later.

And that's why Stormborn has mentioned that in another 20 years there could be more than 140,000 Amerindians in Guyana while the Indian stock is depleting.

This takes me back to your point. The PPP has failed to keep Indians in Guyana, or to reduce the emigration rate. Conclusion: Indians have no hope even in the Indian-dominated PPP.
