Bai the PPP say Guyana is a good place to invest and living standard are improving. So our poorer friends from China and Brazil, both of whom are in the top 10 of richest countries in the world, are coming here to see how they can get even richer. Of course that means that we'll soon be fleeing in even greater numbers to Canada and the US. But who really cares? The PPP is selling everything they can to foreigners. So no need to worry.

What is there to address?  There is continued mass migration, the nation remains under-populated and, with all their talk, no one here is will to re-migrate en-masse. Chinese, Indians, Brazilians all come from home nations which are involved i the development of Guyana, so what's the problem?

PPP getting a bonus, they tend to vote PPP.

Do you live in the great US of A Wally ?

A lot of white folks in the US share your thinking---whites are becoming a minority---and the dark immigrants are taking over.

Listen! Immigration is great for Guyana economically---new immigrants will contribute significantly to the country's progress.

Guys these high immigration rates from Brazil and China is truely playing with fire and the future of our people (all six races of us). These people do not have our history plus they are bringing their biases to our country.

Sure I live in the United States most of the year but I do so because of human rights and career.  My home will always be Guyana.  It is my native land I have no other to call home.

Wally

I was once enrolled in portuguese classes at the Brazilian embassy.  But I got kicked out of the class when I told my instructor that I loved her in Portuguese.  I did not know what the hell I was saying but she took it seriously.

Nevertheless, you guys should all take this seriously.  This is our future as a nation on the South American continent that is at stake here.

Wally

Those people do not know our history they have never experienced our history.

I will give you three examples

(1) Take a look at those businesses that are owned by indian nationals.  Look at how some of them treat those Guyanese indian women who work for them. Like absolute garbage.

(2) Guyanese chinese man and woman have no problem marrying a Guyanese indian or a Guyanese black.  Alot of those Chinese from Hong Kong, Taiwan and China tell their children to only marry white and don't marry dark skin people.

(3) Brazilians talk a good talk but they exclude 100% any dark person from political, economic and military leadership in their country.

Those people have not experienced our history as a people.  We are playing with fire if we let this immigration continue like this.

Native Guyanese are Afros, Indians, Chinese, Putagees, etc once immigrants as the ones today.  So tell me, what's new.  The only true "natives" are Buckman.

And how do you propose to do the above, Wally. I know the chinese were there a long time ago. But I'd like to hazzard a guess that it's the influx of the Brazilians that's making you worried. True, there are many busineses on Regent street and elsewhere that are owned and operated by Brazilian Nationals, not to mention the gold and diamond industries as well. And more are on the way as I've seen. But I wouldn't hit the panic button just yet.

Sheik, I don't mind Italian Brazilians or Japanese Brazilians coming to Guyana to live.  I have found these people to be good people.  What drives fear into me is the mixed race Portuguese Brazilians.  These people have a different world view from us. They have a complete different world view than the Portuguese Guyanese.  Alot of them talk a good talk but they practice a very smart type of racism against people with darker skins and are latin supremacists.  If their numbers continue to increase in Guyana eventually we will have problems with these people.

Instead of bringing the Han Chinese from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan who also have a different world view than Guyanese Chinese. We will also have trouble with these people when their numbers in Guyana start to grow. If we want people in Guyana then I suggest that we should bring Nepalese from Nepal and Bhutan.

We need to adopt an immigration system similar to the United Arab Emirates.  A person can only be a citizen of Guyana if they are descended from a Guyanese citizen who was a citizen of British Guiana before independence of 1966.

They can be permanent residents but they cannot be Guyanese citizens.  At the age of 65 they and any children who are not working have to leave Guyana.
