Things were so good under the PPP that many of their supporters took the first available flight or back road out of Guyana. It would be easy to deduct from this that the latter years of PNC rule attracted more Guyanese to Guyana than in its current political state.

This makes no sense whatsoever. There is no way that the total Indian vote is or can be 42%.

Why do you people insist on equating the general population breakdowns with the electorate.

It that was the case, the PPP would have been soundly defeated by APNU in 2011. And further APNU would not hand away 40% of Government to the 7 seat party.

Let's not discount the possibility of a rigged election.

The Indian vote is 49% at worst to 51% at best. I had erred when I stated here some several weeks ago that the Indian vote is 54% today. I did not account for emigration since 2011 to now.

Also I'm kind of surprised at the small but significant level of Black/Mixed support for the PPP which I suspect totals at least 1 seat and would go some way to explaining why APNU has yet to crack it's 27 seat ceiling. A percentage of the Black/Mixed vote totaling about 3 to 4 seats seems to be shared between the PPP and the AFC. This would make sense though. Mixed people always tend to gravitate towards the more "officially favored" race when they have to choose like all self-interested hominids.

The shift in voting pattern will come in the regions where the PPP have failed to deliver prosperity in all their promises since 1992. The cane cutters, rice farmers, and Amerindians are less likely to vote for 5 more years of continued economic decline.

Please note that the PNC also left rice and sugar in bad shape.  It isn't a guarantee that the state of these industries means a vote for APNU AFC. The coalition will have to EARN these votes!
