Guyana still not on US drug blacklist

According to the BBC website, US President Barack Obama has added two Central American countries to a blacklist of countries considered major producers or transit routes for illegal drugs.

This information was released last evening by the Home Affairs Ministry. The Ministry said that this latest blacklist excludes Guyana and nails the lie that Guyana is a narco-state.

US State Department officials said cartels were using the two Central American nations as routes for smuggling cocaine from South America north to Mexico and the US. The Home Affairs Ministry did not name the Central American nations.

“A total of 22 countries, worldwide, now appear on the drugs blacklist. Guyana does not appear on that list,” the Home Affairs Ministry noted.

Three countries were deemed to have “failed demonstrably” in the fight against drugs. Guyana does not feature among those countries. A country is so deemed when it does not fulfill its obligations under international counter-narcotics agreements and conventions. Such a designation can lead to a country attracting sanctions, by the US.

“The report by the US underscores the success of Guyana’s counter-narcotics efforts, over the years, which clearly surpasses many countries in the Latin America and Caribbean Region.

“The report gives the lie to those in Guyana who are in the habit of describing Guyana as a narco-state, and is not actively engaged in fighting the drug trade.”

WOW !! What an lame DUCK achievement by the PPP.
While drug lords roam freely, the cables state otherwise and US visas are revoked, including Canada, US and the UK recommended that Greene not be appointed as the Police Commissioner.

Is shameful that someone will post that as an achievement by the PPP government.

The main consumers and places of import for narcotics is the US-of-A and the major industrialised countries.

Stop the use of narcotics and the suppliers will dwindle.

Simple, eh, Cain?

1. It relate to individuals/organisations that are engaged with these transactions.

2. Cease the want/use for the narcotics in places like US-of-A and other industrialised countries.

3. Of interest, the trading/importation of narcotics has a long history .. dating much further than in the 1920's.

This is the argument the PPP largely gave for not arresting and or tackling the narcotics trade in Guyana and we are paying a heavy price for this today. If you read the wikileaks cables you can see clearly that this strategy is why the ABC countries backed off helping guyana further and as a result crime is sky high in gy and we are losing citizens daily to violent crime.

Unsolved murders is also at an all time high.

These silly excuses and rationale given by folks like DG are not helping anyone that ignorance they peddle is the reason the PPP has not gotten tough on crime. They repeat the soup word for word the way it is handed to them which shows you there is not much of an independent thinker there.
