Actually, each party is obligated to present two lists: One list is called the national list and the other is referred to as the geographical list. Under the first list 40 parliamentarians are elected under the proportional representation system under which the whole country is one "constituency". The remaining 25 parliamentarians are drawn from the geographical list: persons are elected from the 10 geographical regions based on the votes cast in those respective regions.
This change in the electoral system came about for the 2006 elections.
