Gradually, the development of hydroelectric power project will serve the needs of Guyana and other countries.

Guyana should have been 10-20 years ahead of its time if the power of the PPP is unleashed. The blockade from the opposition has cause grief on the nation and put the country back 10 years for their non-supportive stance on national interests. The only way this progress can continue is if the PPP win back the parliament. Only then we can see the light of day again.

the people of Guyana voted, not you...the will of the people who live in Guyana, not some opinionated ex-Guyanese on a message board, is what matters in the end

RE: MAZARUNI HYDRO

* I am curious to know when the pre-feasibility study will be started.

READ THIS:

The prefeasibility study into the development of hydropower in the Upper and Middle Mazaruni regions has been delayed. The prefeasibility study was expected to commence in April by a Brazilian consortium.

During an exclusive interview with Guyana Times, Foreign Affairs Minister Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett explained that Prime Minister Samuel Hinds has submitted a draft survey licence to the Brazilian consortium for consideration; and the review process is ongoing.

Once the survey licence is agreed, the prefeasibility study will be conducted, followed by a feasibility study.

Queiroz Galvao (QG) and OAS, the two multibilliondollar Brazilian companies that make up the consortium, are investing US$45 million into the prefeasibility and feasibility studies to determine Guyana’s potential to develop hydro-power stations in the Upper and Middle Mazaruni. These processes are expected to take approximately two years once the prefeasibility study has commenced.

* The Pre-feasibility study  has not yet started.

* It will be huge news when the pre--feasibility officially gets started---$45 million will be spent on the study---that's a serious undertaking.

* I am hoping to hear some positive news when the current meeting concludes.

* If that pre-feasibility study gets started before the upcoming election, that would be a huge, huge, huge plus for the PPP.

* I am sure the PNC/AFC are hoping and praying for further delays in the study.

* GOOD NEWS FOR GUYANA IS BAD NEWS FOR THE PNC/AFC.
