With the addition of an all-girls race and one for veteran drivers in the Hall of Fame, the GT Motorsports’ Endurance Rental Cup is set for a grand return tomorrow following a brief hiatus, at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club, Albert Street and Thomas Lands.
The fourth installment of the Endurance Rental Cup will start at 19:00hrs and the organisers have made some adjustments to the races to guarantee that patrons attending the event will be treated to a night of exhilarating action. The Endurance races which cater for teams of three competing in the 500lb and 600lb classes, have been reduced to 45 minutes each, down 15 minutes from the one hour of racing during the previous three events.
It simply means that each member has a maximum of 15 minutes on the track and the team with the most number of laps at the conclusion of the allotted time will be declared the winners.
However, the new additions which are the 10-lap races involving an all-girls race and a Hall of Fame race for elder drivers is anticipated to provide lots of action and should be keenly contested as the competitors battle for outright supremacy and bragging rights.
Among the veteran drivers expected to compete are Andrew King, Ray Rahaman, Cyril Angoy, Harold Hopkinson and Wayne Vieira.
Among the teams set to participate are: MMR, Gizmos & Gadgets, Palm Court, Nexus and Rent-a-Tent.
The event is sponsored by Secure Innovations & Concepts and E-Racing.
Interested teams and individuals desirous of participating are asked to inbox GT Motorsports on Facebook or contact Stephen (669-1900) or Roger (601-8084) to register.
“You do not need to own a kart to participate; our Rental Karts are inclusive of participating in this competition,” GT Motorsports said in a Facebook post on Monday.
At the last event in March, Team Nexus swept both the 500lb and 600lb categories.
Representing the Team in the 500lbs Class were Brian Tenpow, Gregory Mohamed and Carlos Rodrigues, while the 600lbs drivers were Rodrigues, Steven Nobrega and Matthew Phang.
Tenpow and Phang recorded the fastest lap times in their respective categories.
The Endurance Rental Cup is sponsored by Secure Innovations and Concepts, Karcher, E-Networks and the Track Bar, and organised by GT Motorsports.
Admission the venue is free.
