GSCL Inc. Republic Cup 4 bowls off tomorrow

The fourth annual Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc Republic Cup will commence tomorrow at several venues in Georgetown.

The tournament will be played in the Open and Masters’ (over 40) categories with the winning teams in both divisions taking home trophies and cash prizes. The man-of-the-match in the finals and the MVP will also be rewarded.

The Open category will be played with the supreme balls and only round handed bowling will be allowed while the Masters’ segment will be played with the white ball and both round handed and wrist bowling will be accepted.

Everest CC and GNIC are among the venues indentified for the preliminary games which will continue on Saturday, while the finals will be contested on Sunday at Everest.

Fresh from victory in the KPL tournament Regal will look to add to their collection of prizes and they continue to prepare for the Florida Cup in FT. Lauderdale in February. However, they can expect stiff competition from Floodlight, Savage and the fast improving Mike’s Wellman in the Masters category while in the open segment they challenges are expected to come from Speed Boat, Farm, Success and Mike’s All Stars.

Among the players expected to be on show are Richard Latif, Chien Gittens, Lennox Marks, Roohit Dutchin, Wazir Hussain and Sachin Ramsarran in the open division. In masters segment fans can look forward to entertainment from Mahendra Hardyal, Mike Singh, Ricky Deonarine, Mahendra Arjune, Eric Thomas, Rudolph Baker, Greg De Franca, Yunnis Yusuf and Wayne Jones.

Among the sponsors on board are Trophy Stall City Mall and Bourda Market, Top Brandz, Elegance Jewelry and Pawn Shop, Wild Catch Fish Depot, Crown Mining, Star Party Rentals and Ink Plus.
