Growing sense of alienation and demoralization within PNC – says PPP

January 13, 2015 5:55 am Category: latest news A+ / A-

APNU-formally-launched[www.inewsguyana.com] – The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) says it notes with deep interest the constant internal political wrangling taking place within the People’s National Congress (PNC) as demonstrated recently where another clash took place between Granger supporters and Sharma Solomon supporters in Linden.

The Party says it also notes with deep interest the seething disgruntlement at the grass roots level of the Party as regards the militarization of that Party’s structure and leadership as well the increasing isolation of Party stalwarts in the opposition coalition – the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).

“Compounding the situation is the recent announcement by the maximum leader of the PNC to do away with the utilization of primaries as a basis for determining the Presidential Candidate of the PNC coupled with the agreement to enter into secret talks with the Alliance for Change (AFC) to hammer out a consensus programme and to select a consensus candidate thus excluding the Membership of the Party at the various levels,” General Secretary of the PPP Clement Rohee said.

He told reporters on Monday, that Party faithful’s are fearful that in a horse trading and bargaining process between the PNC and the AFC, the PNC could very well cede the Presidential Candidate and key positions to outsiders who made no contribution to the struggles or the strengthening and development of the PNC.

“Inevitably, many Party stalwarts have indicated that there is a growing sense of alienation, disillusionment and demoralization among the membership and key activists and supporters of the PNC which could prove harmful to the political fortunesof the PNC/APNU at the forthcoming General and Regional Elections,” Rohee added.

He said the PPP’s concerns over these developments is further compounded over the alarming exposÉ that resources to finance the election campaign of the PNC/APNU/AFC combination is being mobilized by a gathering of sorts reminiscent of Desmond Hoyte’s creeps under the guise of the ***OP.

“The PPP has learnt the funding for that Party elections campaign via the ***OP in flowing generously from the coffers of well-established printing and publishing Houses and others who have made no bones about their political preferences on the opposition front.

“The double speak and double standards in which the political opposition now revels as they gird their loins for the election campaign clashes with the constant harpings on their part about transparency and accountability, especially when pitched against the excitement to enter into secret coalition talks with the AFC and the methodology being contemplated by way of collusion and connivance to conjure up a joint programme and a consensus candidate.”

The PPP GS pointed out however that the leadership of the PPP for its part continues to enjoy the firm support of its members and supporters, who have been working assiduously to strengthen the Party and its structures.

AFC is the dead man's party and now the PNC wheels are falling off.

Rohee the goat man speaks !!

What is his reason for having 'a deep interest' in what happens to another political party in Guyana. He should be doing a better public job for what he is paid.

He should also give up one of his jobs and show more interest to prevent crime in Guyana, so innocent people don't get robbed and killed.

The PPP might want to use their known vindictive ways to further cause race hate in Guyana like they are doing with the AmerIndians.  Dividing the people, by playing one against  another, regarding the James issue. They know well how to divide and rule.

The way the PPP behave, they will never bring harmony to the people of Guyana and are toast at the next election, with Rohee leading the pack out the door.

Make sure the door don't hit your backside on the way out.

Is that why the cowards in the PPP are afraid to go to parliament and face the people of Guyana?

The best thing that can happen to the PNC is if the Indo KKK (PPP) chapter starts attacking them.  What unites the PNC members is that they are tired of Indo KKK rule and sniff that the PPP is now quite weak.

Granger and the Linden PNC crisis – a contempt for democracy

THE still unresolved issues that have led to the current wars raging within the precincts of the People’s National Congress(PNC) is as shocking, for its still unresolved status, as it is surprising, for the cavalier manner that party leader, David Granger, has been treating with such a very serious matter that continues to damage the party’s image. It once again sheds light on the leader of this senior parliamentary Opposition party.
That the last biennial congress of this party exposed his inadequacies as leader, reflecting his ill-advised decision to enter into the political jungle; but also his ill-perceived understanding of what are its testing moments and how to deal with the arising challenges.
A political party is not a military institution as Granger should by now have learnt. Though, like any other organisation, it must be guided by rules that make for its daily functioning, inclusive of a code of discipline – its particular peculiarity is that it is dealing with the business of the nation. Therefore, it is governed by a traditional culture of membership, drawn from varied social backgrounds that will challenge positions, ranging from the very apex of the party. This is traditional.
Had Granger understood this truism, he would have never dealt with the popular Region 10 Member of Parliament, Vanessa Kissoon, in the manner of a military officer, expecting her to remain silent. He totally mis-read the seething resentment and outright disapproval that such undemocratic action stirred among the party’s pivotal support base at Linden, concomitant with the MP’s defiance. The fact that he, as leader, did not think it necessary to resolve whatever disagreement there was with her and respective aggrieved parties, points to his utter disregard for the party’s constituents at Linden.
The subsequent implosion at the Party’s August congress, the epicentre of which was the undemocratic locking out of the Linden delegation that had intended to challenge Granger’s position of leadership, was the full circle drawn on the reality of his stewardship. It was a disgraceful act of trampling the democratic process of free and fair elections, even at party level. But such was not an accident, for this has been the sine qua non of PNC’S internal politics, that has its precedent at the national level, in the form of successive rigged national elections.
To now be scrambling to mend fences with the Linden party grouping, but still intending not to accept their outright rejection of an unpopular choice of regional party coordinator, will do no good for the already fractious state of affairs that exists within the Party. No party leader can lay claims to being democratic unless he/she listens to the voices of the people.
This has been one of the tragedies of Granger’s leadership, because of his known aloofness. Such an attitude is contemptuous of the people; its results can only be seething discord, as is the current state of affairs within the PNC.

Now that the snap elections date has been announced, the P.N.C "stronghold" Linden, is deeply divided, the results they obtained in 2011 would not be the same this time around. Linden says NO to Granger.

I see that the PPP engages in their normal ritual of fooling themselves that Lindeners like them, and then get rejected and descend into their normal racism about "ungrateful black people".  Now what does Linden have to thank the PPP for.  Between the  Chinese in forestry and those in bauxite they clear mean to reinstate slavery.
