The jury is out as to whether they will be any better than the PPP, but at this point the PPP has gotten too powerful, greedy and disrespectful to Guyanese.  Choosing to host an election when exams are being held, and now changing the date, which potentially exposes Guyanese kids of cheating, is an example of this.  By the time those exams are held in Guyana they would already have been held elsewhere so there is potential for cheating if the exam questions are made available, which is a distinct possibility.

No research needed.  Most Indians are Hindus and so most of their support came from Hindus.  In addition the gap between blacks and Muslim and Christian Indians isn't as wide as it is with Hindus.  Christian Indians and blacks meet in church, and there is more commonality between Christianity and Islam than there is with Hinduism.

It is a known fact in Trinidad that the PNM got more support from Christian Indians and Burnham in his earlier days also enjoyed the same.

According to the 2002 census, Hindus comprised 28.8% of Guyana's population. Muslims accounted for 7%.

Hindus and Muslims are almost entirely East Indians, ie, the PPP vote bank.

Christians made up 56.9% of the population. The data doesn't give a racial/ethnic breakdown of Christians but most new conversions to Christianity are from the Hindu community. Muslims in Guyana rarely become Christians.

Freedom House support comes mainly from Hindus because Hindus make up the bulk of the Indo community statistically. As Hindus are shrinking through conversion and migration, Freedom House support is also shrinking.

Christians generally are not traditionally known to be enthused with the Marxist-Leninist PPP which describes itself as such in its party constitution.
