GPF COP Inter Division/Dept. T20 tourney…F Division and Tactical Service Unit triumph

F Division and Tactical Service Unit (TSC) were the latest winners when the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Commissioner of Police Inter Division and Department T20 tournament continued on Tuesday last at Police Sports Club ground Eve Leary.

F Division defeated Presidential Guard by 24 runs in the day’s first encounter. Led by a top score of 42 from Shiveshwar Sankar, F Division posted 161-5, batting first. Sankar and Michael Jobe added 40 for the opening stand before Jobe was dismissed for 17. Sankar timed the ball well and struck four fours and one six before he fell for 42, while Leon Crawford and Trev or Benn contributed 27 each with the former hitting two fours and a similar number of sixes. Pernell London claimed 3-24 and Kester Hardcourt 2-35.
In reply, Presidential Guard were restricted to 8-3 but Kevin Allicock gave his team hope with some brutal hitting as he shared in a fourth wicket partnership of 46 with Kareen Naughton. Allicock clobbered seven fours and two sixes before he went for 54, while Naughton made 10. Some incisive bowling thereafter by Sankar who returned to take 3-17 and Marvin Peter 2-26 pegged back the scoring as Presidential Guard ended on 137-6.

TSC overcame Felix Austin Police College (FAPC) by 79 runs. TSC managed 144 all out in 17 overs after taking first strike in the second game of the day. Dhaniram Gopaul struck seven fours and four maximums in a robust 56 and got support from Gavindra Jagnarine who made 24 with two fours and one six. The Duo added 84 for the fourth wicket with sensible batting to prop up the scoring. However, only Yama Tularam (11) of the remaining batsmen made it into double figures as Dani Smith picked up 3-17, Rondell Daniels 3-19 and Jason Mc Almont 3-20.
FAPC were sent packing for 65 in 12.3 overs in reply. Totaram Latchminarine grabbed 4-19 while Saif Sattaur captured 3-16 and Lennox William 2-0. (Zaheer Mohamed)
