An appointment no one wants

April 16, 2014 | By | Filed Under Letters

Dear Editor, Just when we Berbicians thought that things couldn’t get worse, we hear that former regional chairman Zulficar Mustafa is to be named as the MP and to become a minister. As far as Berbice is concerned, this man pillaged the county. He and his close collaborator are single-handedly responsible for the loss of votes in Berbice and continue to be the reason people stay away. They were engaged in everything one can imagine. But the PPP rewarded these two people with MP position and executive leadership of the PPP. If the PPP fervently wants to lose the next election, let them continue with these two men. I wait with tears in my eyes to see Member of Parliament Mustafa taking the oath and swearing upon the Koran that the PPP lose the next election. David Ally

Best Village family robbed by bandits

The police say they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 0220h today at Best Village, WCD, during which Rambharose Ramjewan, 52 years, along with his wife and daughter, were attacked and robbed by three men armed with a firearm, a hammer and a length of metal.

Police say the victims were aroused from their sleep by noise in the home and on checking were confronted by the men who had entered the building after removing some louvre windows. The perpetrators then took away $1M, US$2,000, one cell phone, one lap top computer and a quantity of jewellery and fled.
