Ok folks,

GNI needs to engage more with it's members.

How about paying tribute to long time members who are the bedrocks of GNI ?

These members built a home away from home for us and kept our keyboards ticking.

I want say special thanks to D2. I want to become a sharp pencil as he is. (We do not see eye to eye)

Special Thanks to Baseman also , A die Hard Independent. I want to be as fair and balanced as he is.

A Special Special thanks to DG, I want to get a few of his hat collections.

A special Thanks to Nehru Bhai, I want to call a spade, a spade as he does.

Special Thanks to Kaz, I wish I was a cool operator as he is.

Who do you want to thank and why ?

Please keep political debates and issues away for here.

We do have a pension plan that members have elected to join. Did you sign the form when you joined GNI?

Holy Smokes, I forgot to sign the application form !

Bossman, do I lose the five years that I already put in at GNI. Can you please put a word in for me so that I can apply and you can "back date" the form like they do in Guyana.

What does Bibi get for being here a little over a year?

You should get a special award for bringing a happy smile to these boring hogs on GNI who cannot see farther than their snouts.

Why have you described your fellow PPP'ites as such? Only y'all getting smiles compliments of Bibi.

Old men dreaming of happy endings would smile at anything...even old women!

I see that with many of our veterans here.

Do not project. If you have difficulty seeing beyond your portentous snout, chalk it you to the PPP Pinocchio effect.

I am now a veteran member of GNI and I am not going to take rass pass from nobody. Even if I broke the rules along the way, admin should let it slide. You hear that, D2? After seniority, you get immunity on GNI.

Now, what yugi does come up with sometime? When do we get to thank GNI for the privileged to eat raw rice and talk names the whole blasted day?

A missionless ant-eater like you should lift your head up now and then and accept a friendly smile. It will help improve your creativity on GNI.

Creativity anywhere between me and you are indeed light years apart. Its clarity is emphasized when you use non-informational phrases like "missionless anteater" and assume you are creative.

It depicts you well.  No need to get sophisticated.

I thought I saw a description of the history of this site somewhere but can't find it.  I started to post on this site when Cheddi died.  At that time the forum was just a post message type for condolences.  Safraz started up the discussion site soon afterwards.  Back then we used to have to write our own HTML to bold letters and do quotes and stuff.

There is a complete copy of it from the late nineties in the technology museum. However, you may be speaking of seeing the history of it on the wayback machine. It does not capture much.

I Used to zip the site up every month in the late nineties and across the 2000 decades up to the point it moved to the eve groupware. Then the groupware host did not permit one to dig too far into the directory tree so most webzip programs failed.

I should have the thread from the Cheddi era but it is too much trouble to search through those files. I know there is a condolence thread and I can get that for you if you care for it. I do not think it was from this site.

I have most of that stuff on tapes and IDE drives and never took the time to move them to a searchable cloud archives. Maybe I will one day when I am bored. I am sure Amral also has backups.

Actually the condolence thread is still available, I found it at:

If you have the time to dig up the threads "Bharat Jagdeo for President" and discussion on the Constitution that would be great!

Unfortunately, most of the discussions we had on the constitution were on Dove's site and that site only lasted a couple of years. Will check when I get home in a week or so.

Memories:

President Jagan embodied courage, strength, dedication, and perseverance. Our country has lost a great leader, but his inspirations would linger on and help us to become the truly great nation we deserve to be. On behalf of my family, I would like to express our deepest sympathies to family of President Jagan and to the people of Guyana.

I took flack for this one

As we mourn the passing of our beloved leader, President Cheddie Jagan, let's not forget the contributions made by former President Desmond Hoyte to the return of democracy in Guyana. May GOD bless all Guyana.

Here is the masterpiece :

Whenever death may suprise us, let it be welcomed, provided that this the cries of your countrymen reach some receptive ear, and out of the masses would rise someone capable of walking in your footsteps to lead our nation in the path of everlasting prosperity on the foundations which you richly laid. Oh Great One, may your Soul Rest in Peace for you have done an excellent job in making Guyana a better place for all mankind and a place that all Guyanese can be proud of. All Guyana Bow in your Reverence.
