Granger and team meet GECOM;

requests declarations

and end to recount

Granger said GECOM’s Chairman has committed

to discussing the issue at a meeting of the Commission

which started just after he wrapped up his meeting.

An APNU+AFC delegation led by Presidential Candidate,

David Granger met with the Guyana Elections Commission

late Wednesday and requested an end to recounting process

which the Commission started for a number of polling stations.

The recount was requested by

the People’s Progressive Party in several areas.

Granger said GECOM’s Chairman has committed

to discussing the issue at a meeting of the Commission

which started just after he wrapped up his meeting.

The APNU+AFC team also told reporters

****** that GECOM has committed to releasing

94 percent (2161) of the statements of polls

on Wednesday night at 9 PM.

With only 6% (138) Remaining

****** Co – Chair of the Campaign Committee

of the APNU+AFC Raphael Trotman

said the start of a recount was premature.

He said the official request for a recount

to GECOM contained no reason for the re – count.

“It’s like they are making a request,

it contains no reason and they have to understand

that in this process they are a party

just like the others,” Trotman added.

Trotman who is also an Attorney

says if GECOM does not halt the recount,

which he believes is illegal;

it may engender a “ridiculous” situation.

“I appeal for the people to trust us

to wait and watch

but restraint from violence

or provocative activity,” he said.

The ruling Party had said that

there were irregularities including multiple voting

and raised concerned over the number of rejected ballots

and the absence of its agents during the count on Monday.

Granger said his team expressed concern

that business had come to a virtual halt and

uncertainty and tension was becoming dangerous.

The APNU+AFC Presidential Candidate

emphasized the need for a speedy declaration of results

and bring this period of uncertainty to an end.

Meanwhile, APNU+AFC candidate Joseph Harmon

is asking Guyanese to remain calm

and trust that the party leadership

that will do what is right by them.

“Violence will do nothing,

we are the next government of this country

and we are asking you to trust us

because we will do what is right by you,”

Harmon appealed.

The Opposition Coalition has already claimed victory.

GECOM is yet to say

when the official results will be declared.

Granger and team meet GECOM; requests declarations and end to recount

Jimmy Carter calls

for immediate release of results

In a statement to the media,

Carter is quoted as saying

“I call on GECOM to urgently publicize

all of the results that it has

received and reviewed in Georgetown."

Jimmy Carter calls for immediate release of results

Let us Remember GECOM

met this afternoon with

AFC APNU and promised to release

94 percent (2161) of the statements of polls(SOP)

on Wednesday night at 9 PM.

Leaving only 6% (138) SOP

Now Let us See

What Gecom did at 9pm

OK! THESE ARE THE NUMBERS ACCORDING TO GECOM

157,347 = APNU/AFC

157,304 = PPP/C

* APNU leads by 44 votes

* THERE ARE 490 POLLING STATIONS REMAINING TO BE COUNTED

276+ from region 4

97 from region 5

22 from region 6

63 from region 7

1 from region 8

RE: REGION 8

1791 votes -APNU

1837 votes-PPP

* PPP leads by 54 votes---1 polling station to come in.

BOTTOM LINE:

* Too close to call.

GECOM did not

release the 94% SOP at 9 PM

as was promised to

AFC APNU & President Carter

which is finished counting

WHY?

APNU+AFC Media Release Wednesday May 13th 2015

APNU+AFC condemns GECOM selective announcement of results and exclusion of Region 4 SoPs

...

The APNU+AFC Coalition is immensely disappointed and alarmed by GECOM’s selective announcement of results at its press conference of 9pm, Wednesday May 13.

From the results announced it is obvious to the APNU+AFC Coalition that GECOM is cherry picking Statements of Poll to report on, in order to create an illusion of a close race.

This is being specifically done by excluding Statements of Poll from Region 4 where the Coalition has established a significant lead.

Of a total of 891 SoPs in Region 4,

GECOM deliberately chose to report on only 474,

leaving 417 unreported.

We can find no acceptable reason

for excluding such a large number of SoPs

from Region 4 in the announced results.

Therefore the announcements

made by GECOM this evening are irresponsible,

reckless and provocative and

appear designed to cause confusion and discord

among Guyanese who are already

in a state of anxiety and unease.

Further APNU+AFC is particularly appalled

that GECOM reneged on a solemn commitment

to announce 94% of the results this evening.

This commitment was made by the GECOM commissioners

to an APNU+AFC delegation

led by the Presidential Candidate Brigadier David Granger.

Instead GECOM announced 78% of the results

while deliberately excluding

large numbers of SoPs from Region 4.

APNU+AFC calls on GECOM

to immediately release all results

in its possession.

APNU+AFC calls on all supporters

and the Guyanese public to remain calm

and not be provoked

by these irresponsible announcements from GECOM.

We remain confident that the Coalition

has established an unassailable lead

and will form the next Government of Guyana.

I urge all my brothers and sisters not to be tempted and take to the streets, this is what PPP is waiting for,

a recount will not change the results of  AFC+APNU  being the winner.

Remember, that our party has all the statements of polls, signed by all polling agents of the various parties  and the presiding officers of all  the 10 regions. From these statements of polls you can know the winner before GECOM final count, but the laws give GECOM the right to declare the winner of the contesting party,

going on the streets will only make thing more worst, let us be patient and wait on the final outcome of the results.

From my experience as a counting agent ,the recount will be the same results in favour of AFC+ APNU.

When these ballots are being counted at the final counting place, all the political parties counting agents are presents,so no rigging can take place in favour of any party,

PPP knew since the closing of the polls and the counting at each polling stations their polling agents was issued with a signed SOP and from that they knew the results who is the winner.

They are now trying to stall the swearing in of the next President,Prime Minister and the new government by calling for a recount.

All the international and local observers teams, has already declared that the elections were free and fair,

in any democratic elections, there are only one winner and the loser must concede defeat by accepting the results, shake hands with the winning team and help to move the country forward.............

That is called a conspiracy by GECOM and the PPP to manufacture a close race. They lost by a whole bunch of votes and it is all because people became dissappointed with the PPP and they were too blindly committed to their habitual autocratic rule to care. Imagine handing over 12 million US in advance to Bobby on the eve of elections. Add to that the give away of internet infrastructure to DAX and the same of the co Generation plant at linden to pay for elections gimmick after they could not get it from the Mining ministry.
