Defending champs Bounty Colts win in both 2nd and U-23 divisions

The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association’s 1st, 2nd and Under-23 division tournament continued over the weekend with 5 matches at the Burnham Court.

Colts continued to press for a successful title defence with another victory under their belt. University of Guyana Trojans had no answer for Colts’ Timothy Thompson who netted a game high 37 points in the 18-point win for the champions. He was supported ably by his teammates Jafar Gibbons (17 points) and Daniel Ramlagan (9 points).
For UG Trojans, Kadeem Peterkin led their cause with a team high 24 points inclusive of 3 three-pointers. Darroll Williams (13 points) and Rondel Holder (9 points) battled to prevent the loss.

For the losers, Nets, Amoniki John’s 13 points and Justin Algu’s 12 points were not enough to overpower the excellent team performance by the Pacesetters.
The first match on Sunday witnessed Plaisance Guardians continuing their dominant form from during the week with another huge victory. Guardians defeated Kobras 91-53 in the Under-23 match up. In the 38-point blowout, Guardians’ Nigel Bowen tossed up a game high 31 points that included 5 three-pointers. Sunday’s second game was a 2nd division matchup between defending champs in that category as well, Bounty Colts, who made very light work of Pacesetters. Colts defeated Pacesetters 94-44. Evans Johnson (24 points) was the most successful scorer in the game, while Yohann Burrowes (15 points), Jafar Gibbons (14 points) and Daniel Ramlagan (10 points) did their part in big win for colts.
Plaisance Guardians won the third and final game on Sunday evening 78-66 against Pepsi Sonics.
