Finance Minister replaces experienced professional with close friend who lived overseas for 24 years
IN a press statement today the People's Progressive Party(PPP) drew the public's attention to what it termed 'ethnically motivated cleansing' being carried out across the public and diplomatic services by the defacto APNU+AFC administration. The party described as an example the case of Zulfikar Ally. Ally it said, is a young Guyanese professional serving as Executive Director for the Caribbean at the Inter-American Development Bank. The PPP said "though eminently qualified and serving with distinction Mr. Ally was recalled".
He was replaced by a friend of Finance Minister Winston Jordon who has not lived or worked in Guyana for over 24 years.
In closing the PPP also highlighted the dismissal of several experienced non-political diplomats. The party questioned the rationale behind the recall of Ambassadors Bayney Karran and Merlin Udho.
