Daniel Scott competing in the 100m Freestyle of the swimming competition on Thursday placed 6th of seven starters in 58.95 in Heat 2 which was won by Temaf Yalimaiwai of Fiji in 55.15.
Scott was 7th in the 50m Breaststroke in 33.76 of Heat 2 which was taken by Samuel Zongxian Khoo of Singapore in 29.28.
On Wednesday, Scott competing in Heat 2 of the 50m Butterfly ended 5th in 28.31 Robert Jones won the race in 27.31. in the 200m Freestyle also on Wednesday, Scott was 3rd of five athletes in Heat 1 with a time of 2:09.90, Yalimaiwai took the top spot in 2:04.21.
Also on Thursday, Kenita Mahaica ended eight of eight in Heat 4 the Girls 50m Backstroke in 34.23; the winner was Mariella Venter of South Africa in 29.72.
Mahaica was disqualified in Heat 1 of the 50m Breaststroke while on Wednesday in the 50m Butterfly, Heat 3, she was 8 of eight in 32.83, the race went to Marie Wilson of England in 27.68.
Onassha Rogers finished just outside the podium positions in the girls 100m on Thursday with countrywoman Kenisha Phillips ending in 8th place. On a grueling day for the Guyanese duo who had to contest the Heats, semi finals and final, Rogers clocked 11.78 which earned her the 4th place in a race that was won by St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred in 11.56 with Lousie Day of Australia (11.59) taking the silver and Canada’s Deneka Green (11.62), bronze.
Rogers won the second 100m semis in 11.90 while Phillips was 2nd in the third semi in a time of 12.05. Earlier, Phillips won Heat 5 in 12.14 while Rogers did the same in Heat 3 in 11.98.
Claudrice McKoy competing in the Girls 1500m ended 13th of the 15-member field in 4:44.86 with one athlete not completing the race which was won by Heather Wallace of Scotland in 4:16.61.
McKoy will contest the 3000m, today.
