A highly-educated Toronto woman has been charged with attempted murder following an unprovoked stabbing.

Rohinie Bisesar allegedly approached a young woman at a drug store Dec. 11 and plunged a knife into her body. She was arrested Tuesday.

The 40-year-old briefly appeared in court Wednesday morning to face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

Just before her arrest, the National Post received an email, allegedly from Bisesar, confessing to the stabbing.

“I am sorry about the incidence,” the email read.

“I felt the need to be extreme to see if it would work. I would normally not do such a thing.”

A friend confirmed that the email came from Bisesar’s personal address, but could not confirm if she had written it.

Rohinie Bisesar has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon.after allegedly stabbing a woman at a Toronto drugstore.

The stabbing took place in the heart of Toronto’s financial district, at a Shopper’s Drug Mart in the underground PATH system. The unidentified victim suffered life-threatening injuries, CBC News reported.

Bisesar’s lawyer, Calvin Barry, said his client has an "impressive resume," including a Masters in Business Administration.

"People have commented that they're shocked and taken aback by this, and this is not her demeanor," Barry told CTV News.

"She's been basically a deer in the headlights because it's all happening so quickly."

The email sent to the National Post went beyond her apparent confession.

"Do you know any top professionals in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, nanotechnology, satellites? Maybe Military. Maybe Government?" it read.

"Something has been happening to me and this is not my normal self and I would like to know who and why this is happening.

"There is either a single person or more responsible and who and why would be nice to know."

Friends described Bisesar as "sweet but odd," noting that she had struggled to hold down a job in recent years.

One friend, Karl Gutowski, said that that her mental health had deteriorated recently and she was hospitalized in 2014. He said she became detached from family and appeared paranoid.

Bisesar is co-operating with police and is expected to return to court on Friday.

Charges might be upgraded to murder.  The victim died.  From what I am hearing both of the women are Guyanese.

She looks like Miss America Nina Davuluri. My heart goes out to both families.

Joke aside. Two families are grieving and you're right to bring the down side of the story. It is sad, indeed.

A really tragic situation. We ought to be more understanding towards folks with mental illness. The report says Ms Bisesar "became detached from family." Big mistake, because family support is crucial.

Gilly, you are so right - mental illness is no joke in North America. That being said the entire situation is so sad. The victim, from the Scarborough area, recently got married and bought their own home. She is also the sister-in-law of a friend of mine. This is really hard.

Really hard indeed to lose a loved one in such a manner. My condolence to the victim's family.

From all that I read she seems mentally unstable. I feel for her and the victim.

She sure is quite pretty.

We have some retards who go around cussing people for expressing their opinions. Smoking that illegal dope does messed up people mind pretty bad.
