Veteran Guyanese politician and International Relations expert, Aubrey Norton is tipped to be a presidential advisor on youth empowerment.

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon told Demerara Waves Online News on Sunday, May 31 that Norton would be serving the administration of President David Granger.

Norton, a former University of Guyana lecturer and former People's National Congress (PNC) General Secretary is expected to have his official appointment in this capacity soon, "but things have not yet been finalised," Harmon explained.

When asked about his positioning at the Ministry of the Presidency, Harmon said that that was among the final decisions to be made.

Norton, who studied Political Science and International Relations in Guyana and the United Kingdom, is widely regarded as a seasoned campaigner since joining the youth arm of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) several decades ago.

At one stage of his political career he had been sidelined by the PNCR although he had oiled and accelerated the campaign machinery in Linden and other parts of the country.

He is a former Foreign Service Officer and lecturer at Critchlow Labour College.

Norton has been a long standing member of the PNCR which is the largest party that makes up the five-member coalition of a  Partnership for National Unity+ Alliance for Change Coalition that secured a slim victory at the 2015 General and Regional Election.

Was there not a militant wing of the PNC that wanted street action as the preferred strategy?

Running for party leadership is democracy in action knucklehead. What is wrong with that or you old Commies prefer the PPP way of selecting a leader? Explain what you mean by Norton being militant. There is nothing wrong with protesting against the repressive PPP government.

Why on earth shouldn't a senior longstanding PNCR member be an advisor to President Granger who is still PNCR leader? Whatever happened in the past between Granger and Norton is their party business. At least the public at large saw democracy in action when the PNCR chose its leader. The same cannot be said of the centralist PPP whose members have no direct vote for party leader.

Whether we like it or not, the PNCR is by far the largest party within APNU. Who should Granger trust if not a PNCR member like Norton?

Wonder what fellow militants Sharma and Vanessa will get?

Oh so now the dawning realization that Moses wasn't 100% responsible for the victory.

The Linden vote was never PPP or AFC, shut the F up fool.

Ohh but they only came out because Moses commanded that they do.  How dare you say that?   Lord Moses stepped on Mount and commanded that they vote. Quivering in fear at the thought of angering this deity they rushed out to comply.

Norton, Sharma and Vanessa had NOTHING to do with this.  ONLY Lord Moses.
