Land Registrar sent on leave

Minister of State in the Ministry of the Presidency Joseph Harmon.Minister of State in the Ministry of the Presidency Joseph Harmon.

Guyana’s Land Registrar, Juliet Sattaur has been sent on leave with effect July 1, 2015 to pave the way for a probe, according to Minister of State in the Ministry of the Presidency Joseph Harmon.

“The Land Registrar has been sent on leave to facilitate an investigation into the Land Registry and certain financial matters at the Land Registry,” he told Demerara Waves Online News.

Sattaur recently resorted to the letter columns of the privately-owned Stabroek News newspaper to defend her integrity and the nature of the work that she does. “I have often said that I do not take a sweet drink, a fried rice or knock glasses with anyone, therefore I am not friends with anyone, and I like it that way. I was put here to do a job and I know I do it well, regardless of what others say,” she said.

As far back as 2009, lawyers, for example from Berbice, had complained that due to her approach the processing of matters takes a very long time.

Yeah...you idiots are so giddy that this government is so vindictive. Its mostly Indians the coalition are going after. They are showing their true colors. Cheddi Jagan never did this in 1992. Mandela never did this. Where is the change and compassion and the good will that this government brought to the office after May 11th?

The lady was definitely crapola. She got what she deserved. The agency is a mess. This has little to do with what race she but if that is to be considered she got there on account of that and not professionalism.

the old PNC days was not surpassed by the PPP days. They were crooks and outperformed the PNC on crookedness in every metric. They got what they deserve and even if the present administration turned out to be thieves as well.

You don't know Juliet. I do. We were all recruits through the Public Service Commission in 1972. We even worked in the Law Courts together. She earned her position. She took no bribes. On a visit to Guyana recently, I drop by to say hello and this well known PNC lawyer went up to her and tried to bribe her to expedite a matter. She bluntly refused. It's really sad to see this person who gave 43 years of her life to Public Service go like this.

The PPP has no one to blame but themselves. Likewise Indians have no one to blame for themselves. They are reaping the 23 year decimation of the Indian population.

Now ayuh skont can spend ayuh days cussin out ROAR and Ravi Dev till the cows come home.

I am doing some research on ROAR. They seem to have a good plan for the development of Guyana. People dubbed them racist but ROAR, as far as I can tell from what I am reading, was not about domination of Africans...they were seeking to protect Indians....which is not a bad think in a divided society like ours. Unfortunately, Indians threw them under the bus and voted for the PPP. So I would say Shaitaan, for the first time I agree with you, Indians made another mistake not supporting ROAR. The party won a seat in Parliament.

See now, had the PPP hired blacks, they would now be blacks to fire.

Just a reminder that the PPP government hired Olato Sam as CEOs of the ministry of education. There has been no improvement as evidenced by the cxc. Grade 6 results. But he is still there as ceo. Why is he still there?

Very true.

Flashback of the old PNC days.

A friend who knows Sattaur well said she is a professional.  Lawyer Bond of the  terrorist wing had called for the sacking of GRA Sattaur and Lands Sattaur. He probably thought they were related.  They are not.

If this lady did wrong, she must go.  Govt must say why she gets fired.

The problem is so far, I have not seen any sensitivity to diversity.

Well if it was mostly Indians in leadership slots then who do you think that they will target if corruption is suspected?

When the PPP came into power they wiped out much of the African leadership.  And those who survived this were replaced by Indians, when they retired or resigned.

Poor boy.  You really thought that the coalition, which recived 90% of its votes from Africans and mixed people would hand over control to a bunch of disaffected PPP refugees who said NOTHING about PPP racism against Africans.

I challenge you to find ONE instance where Nagamootoo referred to how the PPP treated blacks during the period when he was part of their leadership.  To the contrary he was one of those, like you, who screamed that blacks werew fairly treated by the PPP,

Despite any 3 blacks within PPP leadership with any clout, under Jagdeo, no blacks in confirmed heads of mission slots, and only 2 heading state corporations and other statutory entities.

Clearly you desire a continuation of full Indo domination, but why you think that a party, which derived the vast majority of votes from non Indians, would tolerate this, is baffling.

CAIN,

Your one liner and insultive remarks reveal your true colors. I dont know you from a hole in the wall but its easy to talk crap when you hide behind a camera and a fake name. I am saying this again slowly for you to understand...the   PPP   was   never   vindictive   when    Cheddi    came    to    power  in   1992. This kind of vindictiveness will not heal the rift between the two major race groups in Guyana. Expose the corruption yes, but do not engage in witch-hunting and vindictiveness. The country needs to heal. I am sure you read the post here by "Dondodda". But I guess, words of wisdom cannot penetrate your brick head.

The PPP demolished Foreign Affairs and put the clown Rohee to run it.  They got rid of many blacks in top slots.  Those who survived were replaced by Indians once they retired or resigned.

You can delude your self with your fantasies of Indian saintliness and pretend that the PPP wasn't a hostile anti black racist outfit.  But the vast majority of African and mixed Guyanese voted to toss them out as they could no longer tolerate their racism.

Ravi Dev wrote a whole bible on the inherent violence of Afro Guyanese and then you call me the racist.

Now in your simple and racist mind, can you explain what I wrote that was offensive?  Is it that I remind you that Indo domination of Guyana is over that offends you?  Well why should 20% of the population (Indian men) dominate all aspects of life in Guyana?

You need to go back and reread your posts and the language you are using. It is triumphalist. You may want to find a report called the GIFT report. Does Wismar ring a bell to you? I am sure if the PPP had won this elections GT would have been in flames and Regent Street would have been in flames.

No one is saying that the leaders of the PPP is a saint. There is blame to go around on all sides. How far back in history do you want to go?

You seem to forget that 200,000 people, half the country did not vote for this regime. Dont fool yourself, this government is not a "national unity " government. But I guess, in your mind, Blacks now have the right to "kick some Indian asses". Where the hell do you get off saying the Cheddi Jagan was vindictive.? Cheddi was a forgiving man.

Furthermore, the nonsense that is going on in Guyana today isonly possible because there is a perception that Indians are docile and of the Ghandian mentality. It is only when they change their attitude and become more militant will they be respected for who they are.

When 51% of the population rejected the PPP last time, did you pay them any attention?  NO!  Your view would have been that the PPP won,  and so can do what ever they wish.

Now you sing a different tune as you can no longer scream "ahbe pan tap, black man done".

Any one who focuses only on Wismar and ignores the equally odious Sun Chapman incident, or the assault on black women and kids on the WCD, when PYO thugs stopped a train and slashed blacks, as they tried to escape, indicates that they are racists and need no further comment.

This includes the notion that Cheddi was "forgiving".  But you are a black hating racist, so what can I say.

Now under stand this.  Indians are NO LONGER ON TOP.  Get used to it. No longer will 20% of the population have 100% of the control.

I see that you all expected that the 60% of the population which isn't Indian, would have tolerated Indian racism indefinitely.

Sorry to let you know.  They did NOT!

Now go and wallow in your tears that you can no longer scream "ahbe pan tap" when a group (Indian males) exercised 100% dominance of Guyana in a public/private cabal to ensure their continued control.

I have no interest in your whining and will treat you just as people like you treated Africans when they complained about PPP racism.

I see.  To suggest to you that if Indian males (20% of the population) engaged in a public/private crony capitalism, to squeeze out every one else, and that this is now over with the loss of PPP political power.  That is ethnic triumphalism.

Hmmm.  I guess in your world Africans are reduced to what they originally were to be in Guyana.  SLAVES.  1838 has come and gone.  You couldn't keep a boot on people for ever.

You are making some ridiculous statements with these numbers you are throwing around here. Where is the evidence? It is clear that no one on this forum has challenged your ridiculous faulty information and assumptions.

The problem with people like you is that the racial division and experience of slavery seems to have an intense psychological effect on your psyche. "A good Indian is a dead Indian" and "Indians want to reinvent slavery to punish Blacks" You cant seem to get over this hurdle. I feel sorry for you...your racism towards Indians runs deep. Ican predict what you will continue to do....people like you willk continue to see the dark sides in Indians and you will continue to forever bash the PPP, even when they do something constructive.

The real difference between yours and my perspective is that I am willing to admit the wrongs on both side. Your racism does not allow you to do so. Its a good thing you are not wielding any kind of political power in Guyana.

All your comments have been;

1.  Cheddi was a God and there was no vindictiveness towards blacks.

2.   No commentary about Indian racism towards blacks.

3.  That Wismar was the only significant event of racial violence in Guyana.  No mention of Sun Chapman and other incidence where blacks were attacked by Indians.

So where is your balance? Now you will see that I stated that PPP racism towards blacks was equivalent to PNC racism towards Indians under Burnham.  Your response was that Cheddi was an angel.

So who is the one who is admitting that racism exists on both sides and both sides have suffered.  NOT YOU!

Like I said so blinded in your own hatred of blacks that you will never admit the degree to which the PPP was thoroughly Indo dominated, and thoroughly interested in excluding Africans.

This is my last word on this topic....

We can meet and I will repeat the same statements to YOUR face!

So go run into your PPP hole and scream all the obscenities that you wish about "bad black man, and saintly Indians".

The lady was definitely crapola. She got what she deserved. The agency is a mess. This has little to do with what race she but if that is to be considered she got there on account of that and not professionalism.

It's really sad to see this person who gave 43 years of her life to Public Service go like this.

going there to get things done is on slow time. I do not care if you know her and you like her and believe she was professional and also I do not have to know her. I have to get a simple thing done and she is the functionary who is there to facilitate it not to be an pompous bitch with a pole up her backsides to be greased at her discretion. She is suppose to be served not serviced.

What plan? Lots of roarites are here so they can elaborate. Their plan came under the rubric "consociational federalism" having concluded per their own analysis that we are are a divided people  intractably entrenched culturally and politically. Under this plan Indians get Berbice and Essequibo and blacks Demerara and amerindians The Rupununi and the matter is solved. That is as grating a conclusion as one can devise and I for one would go look for a gun to register my objection

When the PPP was there and black people were complaining about being marginalized every "academic" in their rank were insisting on their charity and benevolence and "black" people were just  being quarrel some. Misir wrote an almost fifty pager as to why black people are not being marginalized. Now a black leader is at the helm there is shaking and quaking about how indians are disadvantaged and I bet our "academics"  will also come out with their Indian marginalization thesis.

Indeed we need resolution to a problem of ethnic discontents but ROAR's plan was not a plan that could serve to heal anything. It would more likely open new wounds. Who the hell said amerindians whose land everyone is talking is to be in a land locked Rupunini? And why ethnic states and not simply federalism? After all, our people are thoroughly geographically intermingled so lacking  mass removals you cannot get functional ethnic based states.

See now, had the PPP hired blacks, they would now be blacks to fire.

Common sense conclusion...the PPP were as racist as any and add to that corrupt than every other government.
