Elderly Berbice man suffers heart attack at news of APNU/AFC coalition – pronounced dead on arrival at hospital

ROSIGNOL, West Coast Berbice resident Ramnauth, popularly known as ‘Thana’, 67, suffered a massive heart attack yesterday, allegedly after hearing the news of an agreed coalition between the Alliance For Change (AFC) and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).He was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in Berbice last evening.

‘Thana’ was reportedly at a ‘bottom house’ meeting in Rosignol, held by the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) as part of its ongoing outreaches.

Member of Parliament (MP) Neil Kumar told the Guyana Chronicle last evening that, prior to the man’s death, Ramnauth was a vibrant contributor to discussions at that meeting.

“He was sharing his tales about Mr. Nagamootoo as a politician and the unanswered questions left hanging by Mr. Granger. He disagreed with the idea of a coalition. He was upset that Mr. Nagamootoo said he would give 11 percent of the Indian votes to APNU. He said that publicly. He could not take the news that Mr. Nagamootoo would align himself with Mr. Granger. This was something he was lamenting,” Kumar told this newspaper via telephone.

Kumar added that, at about 5:15pm, the news of an agreed coalition between the AFC and APNU broke, and it was at this point that Ramnauth collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

“When he collapsed, we rendered assistance to him as much as possible. We rushed him to the hospital, but he did not make it. His family was deeply distressed at his passing,” Kumar said.

MP Kumar has since extended his sympathies to the family and friends of the late 67-year-old Ramnauth. This incident caused postponement of the PPP meeting, it being rescheduled for a later date.

A top GRA official, Sean, who was also at the meeting when the incident occurred, spoke with the Chronicle via telephone, substantiating the story.

Crab Louse who did I wish death on Bhai?

Please show me where?...and Who?

But let this sink in first...

Addendum to Breaking down this agreement-

1. AFC presently has 7 seats.

The agreement gives AFC12 seats win, lose or draw.

2. AFC gets Head of the presidential secretariat,

who is secretary to cabinet

and secretary of the Defence Board.

3. AFC gets Prime minister with increase power.

The prime minister will now chair cabinet,

is responsible for identifying ministers

and structuring the ministries.

4. AFC gets 40 percent of all ministerial positions.

5. AFC gets the ministries of

Agriculture,

Natural Resources,

Home Affairs and

Tourism.

6. Civil society is promised

to be Leader of the List of Representatives and

Speaker of the National Assembly.

7. APNU gets the presidency with reduced powers.

8. AFC gets Two Vice presidents

9. APNU gets One Vice president

10. APNU gets 60 percent of the cabinet which includes

foreign affairs and

finance.

11. The parliamentary configuration of the APNU and AFC

does not equal 60/40.

12. AFC went into the negotiation

the smaller partner

but came out holding

all the critical power and

has secured more seats,

win lose or draw.

Now let us hear from the

Funny Fellas & Crab louse

Can you show me where Granger said 12 seats, win, lose or draw.  His statements were concerning the composition of an APNU/AFC government.  If the coalition loses Granger doesn't seem to have made promises.

I foresee a big AFC APNU buse down if the PPP takes back the house, if the AFC only merits 2 seats, with the APNU pulling in its 26 seats, and yet the AFC demanding 10 APNU MPs get up to give the AFC seats that it doesn't deserve.

And don't pretend that APNU isn't going to monitor where votes are coming from to determine how productive this marriage would have been.
