AFC proposal grounded in race – David Hinds

Responding to concerns on his injection of race into the discourse surrounding a pre-election coalition between the Alliance for Change(AFC) and People’s Nation Congress(PNC) led A Partnership for National Unity(APNU) opposition activist and academic Dr David Hinds hit back at supporters of the AFC. Writing in a letter published in one of the local dailies Hinds noted “to those AFC supporters who are angry at me for introducing race into the debate. First, I wish to remind them that the AFC proposal itself is grounded in race—what would sell in the Indian Guyanese community”. Hinds, an executive member of the WPA and APNU, had come in for criticism mainly from supporters of the AFC after he said the party’s proposal that it should head the coalition configuration with PNC/APNU shows that its taking African Guyanese ethnic sensitivities for granted, while shielding and/or appeasing Indian Guyanese. The AFC is currently engaged in coalition talks with the PNC/APNU.

Coalition talks brings to the fore ethnic division within AFC leadership & other issues

AFC leader Khemraj Ramjattan

Now that the President has made it clear that General Elections will be held on May 11 this year, the Alliance For Change (AFC) is still trying to hoodwink the public that they have not yet decided on who is going to be their Presidential and Prime Ministerial candidates.

This is according to AFC’s General Secretary David Patterson. However, everyone is aware that Moses Nagamootoo and Nigel Hughes were already selected by the AFC Leader Khemraj Ramjattan and his selected few in the party. There is no election within the AFC, only selection and rigging.

Unable to get David Granger to remove himself from his impending selection as Presidential Candidate for A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), the AFC is now telling Berbicians that they will never coalesce with APNU.

Is it the conclusion of a jilted lover? It will be fruitful to Ramjattan to recall the fable of the fisherman and his wife. Having saved the life of the fish and was granted wishes that removed the couple from poverty to riches, the wife wanted to acquire the ultimate power, resulting in them being reverted to their former poverty stricken conditions.

Ramjattan and the AFC wanted the ultimate power – to fulfill the dreams of Nagamootoo to become the President of Guyana, although the AFC managed through deceit and lies to muster a meagre 10.7 per cent of the total number of votes at the 2011 elections.

This is so absurd and ridiculous. However, the AFC’s climax will be worse than that of the fisherman and his wife – the AFC will be worse off than before!

According the party’s consultant Daizal Samad, the AFC will score a resounding victory. If I could recall the AFC’s former consultant Salim Nazrudeen, the AFC would have scored a resounding victory in 2011.

If I were paid a handsome salary, then I would have said the same thing. Therefore, since the consultant is reportedly being paid, his overly expressed optimism is expected. Money and new found popularity can project a person in a world of fantasy!

However, the grim reality is this. Those persons from the People’s National Congress/Reform (PNC/R) who joined the AFC are now convinced that the AFC at the very core will only be satisfied with an Indian President and this has once again demonstrated what I have said repeatedly that the AFC is a racially divided party.

Therefore, these persons will happily move back into the arms of the PNCR. Nagamootoo will once again fail in his bid to become the President of Guyana. Then on the other hand, those People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) supporters who joined the AFC are now convinced that the AFC is only interested in fulfilling their own selfish political agenda and not the social and economic development of this country.

They are convinced that the AFC is the most corrupt political party this country has ever seen. They will move back to the PPP/C.

The above scenario will give the PPP/C the majority it needs to continue its developmental agenda and propel Guyana forward.

The AFC is likely to earn the lowest number of votes in its short existence and this will thrust the tiny band of fortune-seekers into oblivion – a worse ending than the fisherman’s fable. Let the games begin!

Dude, you are desperate. Why do we not ever get any disputation on some initiative or viewpoint. All we get from you is the racist dog crawl and useless piffle as the above.

AFC is attempting to outsmart the PNC and eventually fire PNC MP's. Let us see if Granger falls for the AFC trap.

Good bye AFC after 11th May election, Guyana is a two party state, a coolie man party and a black man party, that is PPP and APNU. AFC in the shadows of another coolie party and the country can only support one.

K

As the A.F.C/A.P.N.U continues to "secretly" talk, the P.P.P is meeting with their supports from all strata of society gaining more and more support....A majority most definitely awaits the P.P.P.

Except that now 30% of the population identifies as neither.

Your inability to account why over 80% of all leadership position in areas under PPP control are headed by Indians, usually males, has been noted.

Why is this so if the PPP is so multi racial.  Surely there will be legions of blacks, yet every time there is any discussion in Guyana, outside of the GDF and the GPF the person talking is almost never black.

Hmmmmm.

Of course your buddy yuji said that blacks aren't fit to lead, so I understand why this is so, and you are quite happy with it.

Conscience, if the AFC proposal is grounded on race, what is the PPP proposal grounded on?

Yesterday Clement Rohee confirmed that the PPP is retaining Donald Ramotar as its presidential candidate on May 11.

Why not an Afro-Guyanese, dougla or even Madam Gail Teixeira? Cat drink she milk?

Another thing that Rohee said yesterday: the 15-member PPP Central Executive Committee decided that Ramotar must run again. Assuming that all members attended that meeting, it means that 14 voted for Donald Ramotar to be second-time presidential candidate.

Wasn't it you, Conscience, who recently said the AFC picked Moses Nagamootoo as presidential candidate undemocratically? How is the PPP better when only 14 members picked Ramotar?
