SOVREIGN WEALTH FUND
The premise of trotman is that APNU will creat one of these to hold oil revenues and that our funds would be safe from state pillage.

This is a new phenomena on the financial scheme of things ( grown to be a well used financial tool only from the beginning of the century ) It is time we know what this thing is about. By the end of the year I intend to have  the equivalence of  a BA in this area.

I started with  a few books ( will list them below). With a little more profound conseptual grasp I will interrogate my friends and others in the field I am lucky to know a few who can help me.

I think it is time you folks here understand also since it is our nations money and access to it they are talking about

the very idea of holding national assets and income in a remote “lock-box” far from domestic interests and concerns about public well-being is premised upon the power of the state relative to civil society. It may be justifiable if assets and income are secure and seen to be secure from the greed of privileged elites. But, in some countries, the legitimacy of sponsored SWFs may be undercut precisely because those institutions are intimately related to controlling elites. In these cases, whatever the functional value of a sponsored SWF and its notional commitment to the future welfare of society, the rhetoric of functional utility and commitment may be little more than a convenient cover for the expropriation of national assets

This is a chance for you to converse with the APNU on their terms and interrogate their understanding of what they intend with our money.

I intend to know this thing inside out and it is one that will be easy since I have lots of authoritative minds on the subject to probe.

I have these books on this list 123 5 and 7. Finished reading #3 and starting #5 which I will finish in a couple of afternoons.

I noticed none of you big mouths felt like contributing here. If guyana is going to set up one of these, I would imagine it to be just the prime feeding trough for the elites. NICIL would be chicken feed compared. If one is coming as is stated by the regime, why the hell are you concerned citizens not finding out what is in the potential bargain?

Guyanese are a bunch of docile passive people who concede all power to the gov't.  If the gov't is incompetent and corrupt, they sigh, resign themselves to it, and passively await an opportunity to depart Guyana.

A SWF should be managed, not by the gov't, but by an independent 3rd party. It should have a strong board to provide oversight, and a projects committee responsible for determining which projects should be funded.  It should be subject to an annual audit by a reputable company, with its financial statements being publicly available.

But Guyanese will allow another NICIL, as they don't think that they are entitled to better.

Not on the front burner, no oil for a long time.  Right now the PNC needs to figure out the structure of the next bail out package when they finally loot the treasury and running on empty!

When they ready for SWF, they can ask the Norwegians or Singaporians, they have great expertise and tight accountability.  But by that time, it might be Jagdeo again, and he will figure it out.

Don't worry. Those old men will only steal enough to ensure that if they lose in 2020, and the PPP doesn't pay their pension, they will not starve.

The younger ones want "coolie insurance".   They know that if the PPP wins, blacks will be marginalized even worse than they were between 1992 and 2015.

Now look at Jagdeo, a man who was a poor civil servant in 1992, comes from a poor family, and who didn't enjoy a huge salary, either as minister, or as the President, and yet is a millionaire today.

There is not one PNC leader who has any where near the wealth that Jagdeo has, and he is far from being the only one.

Baseman if Jagdeo is still heading the PPP, then Granger will win again.  Jagdeo is as good for APNU/AFC as Donald Trump is for Hillary.

All APNU/AFC will need to do is to remind black and mixed Guyanese how Jagdeo used to shoot them down in cold blood.  By 2020 there will be more of them than Indians.  Granger will also bribe the Amerindians to his side, and in fact is already beginning to do this.

Only hope for the PPP is to rid itself of its Indo KKK elements, starting with Jagdeo and Rohee, the two Grand Wizards of that Indo supremacist party.
