HINDUSTAN TIMES --- Naga sadhus and seers from various ‘akhadas’ celebrated Holi in Ujjain with cow urine mixed with cow dung on Wednesday.

Shaivite and Vaishnavite sadhus mixed cow dung and cow urine, poured it over one another and chanted religious slogans, said members of All India Akhada Parishad.

Ahead of the Simhastha fair starting on April 22, a significant number of sadhus and seers have already arrived in Ujjain.

Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP) president Mahant Narendra Giri said cow dung is considered sacred and dear to Lord Krishna. “Sadhus have traditionally used cow urine and cow dung in various rituals,” he said.

Mahant Narendra Giri of Niranjani Akhada is the chief of the apex body of all 13 akhadas in India.

However, some seers had a different take on sadhus celebrating Holi. Mahant Dr Rameshwar Das from Khaki Akhada said ascetics should not celebrate Holi. “If they really wanted to celebrate Holi, they could have exchanged flowers. That would have saved a lot of water,” he said.

People should not apply Eurocentric worldviews on others. If we do then we will all be thinking like the Englishman mimic Caribbeanj. Cultural practices develop became of man's interaction with his environment.

I knew you would chat nonsense like that.

Now when we deport you back to India, and a holy man drowns you in a cocktail of cow urine and dung, and doesn't permit you to wash it off for at least an hour, you will be rolling like a pig in mud.

No you will run howling back to Guyana, and will embrace the first "blackman" you see, and scream "brother"!

No I assume that after the hour who will spend 5 hours under a hot shower, and immediately board the first plane back to England.

After becoming reacquainted  with the fact that Guyanese don't tolerate that kind of behavior, and unlike the English we aren't PC, he will then reach Guyana.

At this time Guyanese seem to play phagwah in a "clean" manner. But there was a time, as I recall, up to the 1970s, when some folks would douse you with buckets of dirty and muddy trench water. I can't remember any phagwah where cow dung was featured though.

On another note, cow dung is rich in antibiotics. Looks like those chaps are in for a large dose of it.

I encourage Indo Guyanese to play Phagwah like that with Carib and Bhai Mits.

Save the cow pee for Cain. He is into herbal and those types of stuff.

Notice the word Naga, well Moses Naga Mootoo foreparents are from that town which celebrates with cow dung and cow pee.

For the record, Lord Krsna played Pagwah with water, coloured water, colours and powder. No record of what those folks are doing in any Vedic scriptures.

It is a moral bloodly sin when an East Indian makes the decision to vomit on his culture to earn laughing points from a mimic with an artifical anglo Saxon culture that sees the Indian culture as an inferior entity.

Prashad

And notice how dem AFC/PNC boys vex when some folks played lil Pagwah with Freddie.

He should take note and consider that a blessing since the Naga family plays that way. He should ask the PM.

I love my culture, my identity and my people but it does not mean I hate someone else culture. I would have no problem with Caribbeanj practising his African culture instead of being a mimic of someone else's culture.

There is nothing artificial about anglo culture vs a genuine Indian culture. Culture are practices people find convenient for living their communal living. As such nothing artificial exists in culture since there is a place for every practice and a practice for every process. We are not Indian or African any more. We are all of the western tradition. It is our dominant culture and the rest is sub cultural appendages to that. You are as anglo as Caribj or you would not fit in here.

I am proud to be an East Indian to my very core to my death bed. An artifical Anglo Saxon like mimic Caribbeanj I will never be.  I feel  rage when I see these Indian women try to become an anglo at a crucial time in the history of our people in the Caribbean

We agree with this description by the Waddington Commission, and confirm from our experience that the Indian element in the population has now shaken off its previous lethargy andis beginning to play a major part in the life of the Colony. Education is now eagerly sought by Indian parents for their children; many Indians have important shares in the economic and commercial life of the Colony; the rice trade is largely in their hands from production to marketing. Their very success in these spheres has begun to awaken the fears of the African section of the population, and it cannot be denied that since India received here independence in 1947 there has been a marked self-assertiveness amongst Indians in British Guiana. Guianese of African extraction were not afraid to tell us that many Indians in British Guiana looked forward to the day when British Guiana would be a part not of the British Commonwealth but of an East Indian Empire. The result has been a tendency for racial tension to increase, and we have reluctantly reached the conclusion that the amity "with which", as the Waddington Report said, people of all races live side by side in the villages" existed more in the past; today therelationships are strained; they present an outward appearance which masks feelings of suspicion and distrust. We do not altogether share the confidence of the Waddington Commission that a comprehensive loyalty to British Guiana can be stimulated among peoples of such diverse origins. There is little evidence of any coalescing process of inter-marriage between the Indian
and African components of the population.

Really.  The only person who is vexed is prashad at the sight of people with a fake anglo saxon culture "spoiling" his festival.

He thinks that if these fake "white men" weren't involved the "true" celebration, cow dung/urine, and all would occur. So he is angered that most Indos here are just as disgusted with this notion, as are the non Indos.

He will wail when the Indians tell him to take his "fake black man" ass and stop bothering them!

And so we will now put to rest the notion that racial tensions are exclusively the fault of blacks, and only began when Burnham left the PPP.

The African and mixed middle class were quite alarmed at the prospect of an independent Guyana being dominated by Indians, excluding all others.   They felt that many Indians refused to see themselves within the context of living in a multi ethnic society, seeing themselves as an "East Indian" nation, having no regard for the rest of the population.

When we see the brown bai KKK, and the fact that so called moderates like Vish Mahabir, and VVP refuse to confront them, we see that those sentiments aren't completely dead.

Englishman Mimic Caribbeanj continue to put down the East Indian people of Guyana to feed your warp feeling of superiority for that artificial culture that you promote.
