East Coast and east bank collide, hosts UDFA square off against Essequibo

Football fans in Linden are eagerly awaiting their team’s clash against Essequibo Pomeroon in game two tonight as they open their campaign in the inaugural GT Beer Inter Association Sunday Night Super Cup $6M championship after the opening game between East Coast and East Bank associations at 19:00hrs at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.

President of the UDFA said that Regional Chairman of Region 10 Mr. Renis Morian and deputy Mayor of Linden Ms. Waneka Arrindel will join Guyana Football Federation President Mr. Wayne Forde for the opening ceremony which will be staged at the conclusion of the first game which starts at 19.00hrs with the second between the UDFA and Essequibo Pomeroon at 21.00hrs.

While not releasing the names of their team yesterday the players likely to don uniform for the home team are goalkeeper Kellon Major with the defence centered around Deshawn Dey and Oswald Benjamin, national midfield player Clive De Nobrega should be in the middle with Marmalaque Davidson and Kevin Beaton among those being featured up front.

The Essequibo Pomeeron side, which is unknown, will be looking to create the upset which would not be helpful for this UDFA side which is hoping to emerge out of the groups of four and place themselves into the final four stages of the tournament.

East Bank and East Coast will be hoping also to get a good start with a win tonight in the opening game as the eight teams are divided into two groups in a round robin play before the top two teams advance.

The participating associations are the Upper Demerara, Berbice, Essequibo Pomeroon, East Coast, East Bank, Bartica, Georgetown and West Demerara.
