Former Judicial Officer of the Eastern Caribbean Court, Fidela Corbin-Lincoln has returned home to become a Puisne Judge, to preside over cases in Guyana’s Supreme Court.

Corbin-Lincoln, who has almost 20 years of experience as a litigator, solicitor and judMarch 28 2018icial officer, was this morning sworn in as a Puisne Judge by President David Granger at State House.

She is the daughter of former Leader of the People’s National Congress Robert Corbin and worked in several Caribbean countries in the legal field.

The 41-year-old attorney told News Room that she felt it was time to return home and serve her country.

β€œI always wanted to eventually return home and the opportunity came and I thought it was a good time to come home and continue to contribute to the development of the jurisprudence. I was already doing that is the Eastern Caribbean but Guyana is home,” she said.

Corbin-Lincoln said she is looking forward to her journey ahead.

β€œThe independence of the judiciary is our principle that guards against interference of the executive and legislative branches … the independence of the judiciary is necessary to protect citizens’’ rights and ensure that legal issues are settled fairly,” President Granger said.

He explained that Corbin-Lincoln’s appointment was done after receiving the advice of the Judicial Service Commission.

Corbin-Lincoln holds an LLB from the University of Guyana, an LEC from the Hugh Wooding Law School and an LLM in International Commercial Law from Kings College, University of London.

Sir Gilbakka if you score a future daughter then you should consider naming her Fidela

Not impossible. The man is in the twilight years of his life and you are thinking of maybe his future daughter? How about you thinking of this for you seeing you are still a "young man".

Prash is in his twilight years too.

Anyone who was following what Prashad has been preaching will know that Prashad wants every Guyanese East Indian male to play his part and contribute to increasing the declining Guyanese East Indian population.  If you cannot increase the Guyana East Indian population then try to increase the dougla population.  It does not have anything to do with age. All East Indian Guyanese men should play their part.  Get a woman who can get a child and get busy. That means all them men like Gilbakka, Gerhard, Prince, chief, Burnham Hydro seed engineer,  warrior, keffer, Mitwah, Skeldon, Riff, Amral etc should come out of retirement and get busy. Prashad is expecting an upcoming East Indian baby boom.
