PPP has had history of unparliamentary behaviour.

Dear Editor,

November 17,2017

Source

Human history is replete with examples where the behaviour of persons in leadership positions can influence those around them.

The rowdiness witnessed in our Parliament on 2nd November, 2017 was horrible.

Guyanese, just before Independence and after 1992 have seen an unhappy pattern of behaviour by the PPP Leadership.

Someone sought to describe the rowdy behaviour of November 2, 2017 as a mere aberration.

On the contrary that performance was part of a PPP script.

There exist the many examples of the poor lessons offered by the PPP Leadership.

Reading the series “Heist of Guyana.”  (Kaieteur News) may be a good beginning.

We share traditions which have helped to secure the integrity of society to ensure a regime of civility and decency.

We must not forget the ‘feral’ blast by the PPP representative at the American Independence celebration function in 2014.

It was not only vulgar but ungracious, towards an Ambassador who hosted Guyanese at the US Independence celebration; it coincided with his farewell event.

That fact seemed to escape the attention of the PPP hierarchy who justified the verbal assault. All those who were present expected an apology from the Leadership of the PPP.

But back to the Institution of the National Assembly and the Parliament.

Therein, we saw the petulance of the Leader of the PPP, Dr. Jagan when he threw Law Books onto the floor and on another occasion, removed the Mace, and later hid it. The Mace is the symbol of authority if not veneration regarded by all who enter the Chambers of a Parliament.

But then how can we forget the PPP’s descent into the gutter when four of its members led by Dr. Jagan made a most vulgar gesture, the type one will expect only from the “uncultured hoi polloi.”

To those who felt that the Parliament behaviour was an aberration be reminded that at the meeting of the National Assembly held on the 28th of May, 1963, the Speaker, Rahman Baccus Gajraj  (nominated by the PPP) had to admonish the PPP Leadership.

Speaker Gajraj made a ruling during the debate on a motion which sought to extend the state of emergency.  His ruling displeased the PPP side of the House.

I may add this caveat, during the Commission of Inquiry into the 1962 disturbances and the infamous February Black Friday, Dr. Jagan and PPP member, Mr. Jacobs, said that they had received letters threatening their lives and to create trouble in the country. Neither Mr. Jacobs nor Dr. Jagan was able to produce any letter in support of their statement before the COI.

Back to the House, during the abovementioned 40th sitting of the National Assembly the PPP members then in Government showed their displeasure by accosting the Speaker making vulgar gestures.

Offered an opportunity to apologise for what was described as the ‘disgraceful and shameless acts, conduct and behaviour’, the PPP members refused to offer an apology.

The Speaker then identified the following as being guilty of vulgarity in the house.

  1. Dr. Cheddi Jagan, Premier and Minister of Development and Planning,
  2. His brother, Derek Jagan, (an Attorney-at-Law)
  3. Victor Downer, and
  4. Mohamed Saffee.

As General Secretary of the PNC Party at that time I attended certain sessions of the National Assembly. The behaviour of the above-named PPP members was unforgiveable and unforgettable.

Amidst shouting, reminiscent of that which we heard during the address by the Head of State on the 2nd of November, 2017, Mr. Peter D’Aguiar successfully moved a Motion of ‘No Confidence’ in the Government.

It is my hope and prayer that the PPP Leadership would fathom the seriousness of their actions that day.

The young PPP ‘missionaries’ must demand some lifting of standards from those who now lead and that the PPP members everywhere should condemn this behaviour since it can achieve nothing, except to bring the Party again into disrepute.

President Granger need to be complimented for not being distracted by the constant banging on desks, shouting and display of placards by the PPP members while in the Chambers.

I sat there and marvelled at H.E. David Granger’s tenacity, not once varying from his prepared address.

It demonstrated the stature of our President who seemed invested with the highest order of a stoic.

Let the Nation pray for him so that his work and that of the coalition could be a monument more lasting than bronze and for which our descendants would express their gratitude.

Thank God for Granger who will keep Guyana, Good, Green and Glorious.

Yours faithfully,

Hamilton Green OR, JP

Green cannot and will not take a back seat. Granger gave him the Order of Roraima and engineered a law to fatten his prime ministerial pension. He has a big incentive to attack PPP. Nothing new though. Guyana.org had published the PNC X-13 plan of the early 1960s which showed Green's vital role in the racial disturbances.

When you have a Namakaram Crabdaag like Guyana has as PM, you can expect the Greens of the world to thrive and be relevant. This SHAMELESS Namakaram Crabdaag is WORST than a dead stinking DOG lying on the road for months!!!

Yes, thanks for asking.

Imagine Green bemoaning the "desecration" of the National Assembly. I guess illegally sitting in the leadership chairs didn't bother Green at all.

Probably lost his memory of the despotic Burnham rule, when the rubber stamp Sase Narine was speaker of Parliament, who gave Cheddi Jagan a tough time ,Jagan was in order with his objections.

This man should not be speaking to propriety. He was part of the enforcement arm of the dictator and was often at the head of GDF troops urging them on to beat up people during political gathering. I was there one night when they came through the streets of Queenstown like  a hoard of locus beating people with sticks.

That being said the PPP should not be setting the trend for protests when or if the get back into office. They need to be more creative with use of people and strategy,

You can write in more coherent, logical and intelligent diction so why don't you put that ability into practice? You reduce the board to reservoir of illogical, incoherent, nonsense when you write as above. Worse it perpetuates the stereotype of the ignorant coolie with no grasp of english that is being plied by Africans on blogspace like SN.

D2, there was very good reasons why I was raising, pointing to RED FLAGS before the last Election to you and others. Buyers remorse is not a good feeling but I hope there will be lessons learned.

You have to be naive to think that they will stop or that anything written/said will able to influence the illiterate and ignorant.

Intimidation is for criminals.

Maybe not a dunce but certainly not a student of anything. He was capable of inciting the Wismar Massacre.

That chap used to put his gun on the table twirling it around whilst having a meeting with Indians students at UG. All dem poor indians wanted to do was to learn and he considered them as a threat to the regime.

Let us never forget that this anti koolie serial killer was a chief of the x 13 plan. He always drove around Georgetown with three landrovers filled with armed men.

Of course in your new role as a member of your tribe you will conveniently forget to note that the PYO was as guilty of all the brutal acts that can be attributed to Hammie Green.   This especially in 1964 after they received weapons and training from the Cubans.

You can scream, cry and rant and rave that I am a racist because I will NOT allow you all to portray the lie that "black man baad, Indian good".  You are old enough to know better.  I will leave that ignorance to those who were to young to have experienced that era and who were nourished on the racist poison fed to them by the PPP.

Guyana, org is a tool of a PPP official so CANNOT be held as objective.  Even you will admit that it has a definite incentive to portray a biased view of the events of 1964.

It will conveniently omit the truth that racial violence began in 1961 when a black man was killed by PPP operatives in 1961 and that when the PPP won its supporters had motorcades through black villages on ECD hurling racist insults at blacks.  After being forced even Cheddi had to condemn this behavior.

Eusi Kwayana, a man who never trusted Burnham, and who didn't leave when the split occurred was then forced to go as he saw the PPP transforming itself from its role as a vanguard of the working class to becoming the "coolie people party" that it is today.

If you wish to be objective balance your Guyana.org accounts with those of Eusi in his booklet "There is no Guilty Race".

Neither should we forget the black hating Jagdeo, Grand Wizard of the Indo KKK and killer of scores of blacks, using his Phantoms.  The Phantoms being a gang of para militia thugs (most of them blacks) who worked with drug lords who had connections with the Colombian cartels.  No proof can be furnished that all of these killings involved criminals and in fact analyses of the names indicate that many did NOT have a criminal record.

and Jagdeo paid black hooligans to kill black UG students.  Ditto to the various employees at KN who were gunned down by the phantoms in a terrorist attack.  This because Jagdeo was appalled that the owner, an Indian, refused to remain on the PPP plantation.

Jagdeo is equivalent to the worst that the PNC has on offer!

equivalents result in equilibrium. Green started it all, Jagdeo is simply a product of PNC(Green) hate. PNC used the House of Israel and goons to kill indians and intimidate them. When was alyuh time, mash ass was plenty, Jagdeo returned the favor.

Doan worry, he comming back stronger than Zappata.

Eusi never trusted Greene either. If my memory is correct I think Eusi had Greene up on corruption allegations once for the personal use of government funds. Gilbakka can clarify this.

His entire house and the steel sheet piling in front of the property were built with Public Works department material and labour. The Ombudsman at that time GAS VanSertima was investigating him and Minister David Singh (at that time Minister of Housing). When the report was released, David Singh committed suicide. The contents of the report was never released to the public. Sources indicated that Green had threatened Van Sertima. Green is the most racist thug of the highest order, hence his OR designation - the Order of Racism.

Kwayana complained to the Ombudsman about Green and housing minister David Singh. Green got off but Singh was asked to resign.

David Singh didn't commit suicide. Burnham sent him to China as ambassador.

Gilly, What year was he posted there? I remember working close to his law office on Croal Street when the news broke. I saw him the day before his death. His spouse was light skinned and the most beautiful black woman I have ever seen.
