His steady progression in the sport has been aided by outstanding performances, at home and regionally and when the pocket-sized racer by the name of Danny Persaud jumps into his Mazda Miata fans usually expect him to be fiercely competitive.

Tomorrow’s Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) ‘Race of Champions’ Meet promises to provide another stern test for the young speedster, who many would know is not afraid to throw down a challenge to the more established names in the sport.

Persaud in an invited comment via telephone yesterday confirmed that he will be at the starting line tomorrow and has identified Groups 3&4 as his choices to battle for supremacy.

A former Group 2 champion, Persaud’s move up in the higher classes has not only been costly, but has also endured a test of his skill and will against some of the best drivers both locally in the Caribbean.

He has shown the fortitude and skill that belies his short tenure in the sport and has been a big crowd favourite whenever he takes to the track.

Over the years, the soft-spoke daredevil has done a series of modifications to the machine, making it far more reliable in every aspect and even increasing its horsepower.

In the Group 4 category, Persaud could face the likes of the Jeffrey father and son conbination of Kevin and Kristian along with Andrew King and others.

It should provide a fascinating spectacle, one worth watching so be sure to be there.

Persaud is being sponsored by Buy Me Auto Sales.
