I am happy to announced that Donald Trump did well in his home state of New York. I cast my vote for Mr. Trump @ 7:00 AM yesterday. I saw some very familiar faces at my poling site except for Vish M. Unfortunately, many registered democrats wanted to vote republican but is was not possible. However, a very many new registration forms were handed out to those who wish to change party to vote in November. Perhaps Vish M can explain why NYS is leading towards Republican.

FM

1.8 million voted for either Hillary or Bernie while 869,000 voted for the Republicans...with those numbers, couple hundred Indo democrats wanting to vote for Trump in Nov is not a problem...

BTW, Hillary got 1.054 million while Trump got 525,000....looks like a runaway train to me

So far Hillary got over 10 million votes...more than any Republican candidate

Leaning Republican??? hmmm...someone needs math lessons

Cobra,

A DEM can vote for any person including Rep at the primary but it must be a Write-In Candidate

If your poll Site was PS 161 then you meet with me as I the Co-ordinator

I am still @ PS 100, Glen Morris. That's my voting site as well. You was there last year as I can remember. Congrats on your coordinator's position. Dr. Dhanpaul was there.

Since November 2015, RHEDC started to distribute 12,000 Voter Registration Forms.

All merchants along the Liberty Avenue business corridor were given a stack of voter registration forms, and with the local Libraries in Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park.

RHEDC hosts a weekly Senior Citizen Information Session that attracts 30 to 200 seniors per week. Each senior is given 10 forms weekly to distribute in their network.

Each Mandir and Masjid in the Jamaica, Queens Village, Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park were given 250 to 500 Voter Registration Forms.

In addition, RHEDC hosts a weekly Conference Call to advance Voter Engagement. Over the last few months, we were able to Identify Bills in the NYS Senate and Assembly that can be advanced with our votes.

These bills are advancing the Diwali Holiday, The Indo Caribbean Educational Curriculum, the Punjabi and Muslim Garb Bill.

RHEDC is thrilled with the increased in voting in the Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park communities.

Vishnu,

Keep up the distribution of those forms for many Guyanese although they are residents are still not registered to vote.

Our religious institutions within our community has to do more on educating thier congregation about how important it is to vote.

Chief,

Thank you for your encouraging words.

I am meeting with the "Mouzam" from Al Abadin shortly to provide voter registrations forms in preparation for the month of Ramadan.

I will also ask him to reinforce your suggestion.

I also have a weekly forum every Sunday at the Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir

Chief, do you tell people who to vote for like you did in Guyana's election?

Yep!

I told everyone to vote for BERNIE IN THE PRIMARIES.

You are what I will call a nimakharam, I cannot understand how you can vote for a man who want to deport your family.

That is wrong in America. I will report you to NY State Board of Election. I have to speak to Vishnu about having you around him. I don't believe Vishnu is going to Al Abidin to tell the people WHO to vote for.

Vishnu, you need more people in the community to get registered and vote. The Phagwah parade demonstrated much more than 9000. An Indian lady at PS 100 was so excited that as soon as she got her citizenship, she registered and voted a big smile. You need to work on a strategy to get people in that happy mood.

Vish, keep doing the good work.  If you don't release info. like this people would think the Guyanese community in Richmond Hill does not participate in the political process as much as they do.  The data from previous elections vs. the present says a whole lot about our people's concerns about what is happening nationally and locally.  The significant increase in the number of people who voted in areas with Guyanese is quite encouraging.  Our young people are speaking out more and more on issues of interests to the community and the country as a whole.  We must encourage to speak out.

Richmond Hill

Hillary      2597   63.9%

Sanders   1469   36.1%

South Ozone Park

Hillary      3671    72.4%

Sanders    1397   27.6%

So now we have 9134 votes from our community.

This is an Historic Number outcome as we never ever got this many votes

How do you define "community"?  RH/SOP or the Indo Caribbean vote, because these two are clearly not the same.

http://www.nytimes.com/interac...rhoods-map.html?_r=0

Folks can peruse this map to see that this isn't an ethnically monolithic neighborhood.

Shut your Poke!

Shame on you for using such dirty language on a public forum.  It is an accurate measure of your character.

Caribny,

Richmond Hill / SOP is a predominant Indo Caribbean community.

NYC Board of Election does not provide race/ethnic data.

I was the coordinator at a site in the heart of our community.

I personally greeted 300 Indo Caribbean friends and associates at my site.

Shut means to close.

Your is a possessive adjective.

Poke is to prod someone or thing and it's a noun in the Guyanese vernacular insinuating something that emits noise from any part of one's anatomy.

String them together and you could read it as a lullaby for most.

I wonder how predominantly we are in the Richmond Hill/SOP/OP area now that we've had an influx of South Asians - Punjabis and Bangladeshis.

Vish - I know a lot of registered Democrats who would like to change party affiliation.  What is the correct procedure for doing that?  And is there a deadline for this to become effective?  Thank you.

Any Democrat who wishes to change their affiliation need not do so. Only Democratic votes desired.

Later this week we will get the official results. It will include the absentees and affidavit ballots.

Based on actual data from my Poll Site, we had 198 Affidavit ballots, it is likely that there was more than 10,000 votes in the Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park.

With this empowerment, we can elect our own City Council person, NYS Assembly person, NYS Senator or even our own Congressional person.

None of the above races ever needed 10,000.

This is the MAGIC Number!

This posting does not account for Queens Village and Bellerose.

Our community is awake!

We are here to stay and this is HOME!
