President Granger and Prime Minister Nagamootoo to blame for racial discrimination

President Granger and Prime Minister Nagamootoo

President Granger and Prime Minister Nagamootoo

Dear Editor,

I accept that the PPP/C was replaced as the incumbent Government. It is for the Courts to rule on the outcome of the 2015 Elections but as the only Opposition Party, the PPP/C must defend and promote the rights of all the citizens of Guyana.

The ongoing relentless arbitrary if not discriminatory acts of removing large numbers of people of East Indian descent from their positions within the Public Sector certainly isn’t a good sign for Guyanese. Immediately upon assuming office, the Government placed all emphasis on removing employees perceived as being friendly to the PPP/C, a majority of whom were East Indians, from the Public sector. I’m not aware of any of these positions receiving East Indian replacements.

The Prime Minister is clearly muzzled and dares not oppose his President as not only did he fail miserably in “bringing 11 percent of the East Indian votes” to the APNU/AFC coalition, he has also failed on every other promise he made to all Guyanese during the Election campaign. He has not once come out in defense of the actions of his partners in Government or in objection to the ethnic discrimination currently ongoing. This is a man who swore to uphold the Law and fight for justice but seems to be a failure.

It is clearly unacceptable to use derogatory words to anyone but to do it in Parliament and not be sanctioned by the Speaker is what East Indians in Guyana need to take note of and be very worried. If this can be acceptable to the House of Parliament then it is definitely going to form a precedent in the country’s history.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo and President Granger are both to blame for this current level of racial discrimination as they are by their absolute implicit actions, creating an incendiary device to be lit under their watch.

Sincerely,

Faoud Khan

Suppression of the Indians under the rule of Burnham and Hoyte resulted in the economy deteriorating to basket case. Does this gov't. want to see Guyana go down that same path again? If they think that marginalizing one group will result in economic growth and prosperity they are dead wrong.

The Indo KKK wails, and refuses to tell us why they remained silent when the PPP waged war on Afro Guyanese.

Why have most of the heads being dismissed are Indian.  Because there were NO Africans to dismiss.

Please outline a list of Africans who have been kept on the job.

I expect NO response from you, other than to scream that caribj is a racist.

The ideological space for racial bigotry is reserved space by indians. Lets get one fact to the fore. No one has taboos about miscegenation or fear race mixing or loudly insist others are intent on sexually subjugating their women via National service of on entry into the security services.

No other group loudly proclaim their supreme aptitude for business or management or for doing whatever needs to be done as vociferously as Indians. On that account alone they shout down  others for even attempting those offices. This is the reality, the bedrock of a belief system that is firmly implanted in the minds of many indians and inculcated generationally while discounting the real history of origins. Indians conveniently forget they were the oppressed subaltern, backward status over centuries in their home world. They forget the very things the scream from the rooftope " black people incompetency" was religion in Indian and they were its footstool!

There is something  psychologically damaging to the above legacy and it manifests itself in all sorts of pathologies in our community. It is the reason the political ideological space of the PPP party locates its support in the indian community and build its philosophy of right to rule. It centers itself on the unspoken presumptions that their latent competencies means governing the state as a  genetic inheritance from their  Caucasian brothers idea of the "white man's burden". It is easy for an indian to shout and feel validated to the core that "black man" or buck man" cannot do anything. It is a natural as sneezing to many.

This entire malignant campaign of disunity presently being orchestrated via Ravi dev Through the Guyana times is on massaging that disease in the Indian community. The claims of reverse racism is  its natural disguise.  Granger stole office he did not win it. Granger cannot govern well because he has natural limitations. The perilous state the nation is in is not a legacy of the PPP corruption. That is conveniently forgotten because Indians cannot be corruopt...only wise!  This is the black mans incompetence, the blackmans meme being expressed!

And how dare Nagamotto insist he is Guyanese and not Indian at the GOPIO conference!  They forget that  the President of GOPIO did not embrace Guyanese Indians as equal but expressed a similar opinion of them that was the legacy of what kept the ancestors to Guyanese Indians in limbo in India. The President said Guyanese indians are as their black brethren in Guyana backward and lazy and  not the same Indians cultural capacities as the native Indian!

The Guyana Times, built of the loot from the state is now guided by the quintessential Indian racist Ravi Dev about black racism. This is the man who wanted to create two indian only states in Bebice and Essequibo and a black state in Demerara while lumping the Native peoples in land locked Rupunini and think it is a fair deal. This is the man who just made a speech in India with the full authority of the Minister of Finance that Guyana is a place for indians and ready for Indians in India to come and become rich.

My hope is Granger is not goaded by these racist bitches into reacting negatively. Black racism as Amerindian is always reactive. It is time to be proactive an be a fair ruler. There are enough good people among the indian community who will not be swayed by this malice of the racist crowd that his government means black people is out to get them. It is time we see a transition away from racial hegemony into a society where merit over nepotism and competence over friends and family causes a person to get a job. Guyana cannot move forward without the reliance of good people from whatever ethnic group to fill positions and work for a common end.

Guyana is becoming a worm hole.

The Government must be very stupid to suppress the People who controlled the economy.

The Afro_Guyanese  people accused the Indians of being racist, but are practicing it.

The 2015 budget is a living proof that the Government of Granger is economically bankrupt.  They handed out peanuts e.g The pensioners were given the equivalent of $us 3.00 per year.

Here you are doing the same crap i mentioned above...clinging to the myth that Indians control the economy. The reality is that Indians in Guyana except for a few are all in the same boat as th e black man. For example, no one in the corentyne on average own more than 2 acres of land ( and most do not even own that much) hardly any of them have a means outside of hustling to sell fish, bagee or clothing to make a living.  Remember our average income is 3500. Dont let the corrupt few who rose via the drug trade fool you. Guyana traditionally had only around 20 families who dominated the economy and a lot of them were mixed or Portuguese.

This is the same D2 who charged during the crime wave of 2001-2002 that Afros criminals in the eyes of the PNC change status from criminal to innocent African young men when arrested or killed by police.

I said that more often than not the racial schism has other explanations than racism. It is to repeat a hackneyed phrase " a security dilemma" that is a pathology of persisting race consciousness. Of course...black people have the devil in them...veritably bandars always have the devil in them...dude get real.

And why should you care.  When you all were on power you engaged in racism against them, based on "28 years of oppression".  Well they have their narrative of "23 years of oppression".

This shouldn't bother you, as building a society where ethnicity isn't an issue is the last thing that you wish for Guyana.

1.  I screamed about Indian racism in response to racists like you who denied that Indian racism existed, even as you practiced racism against blacks.

2.  I have stated over and over that African and Indian racism is a fact of life and that African and Indians have been victimized by that, and so vote race.

You wish to pretend otherwise so that you peddle your vicious bigotry.  Guyana is changing, and so are many younger Indians.  You will be left behind by history, just as the old white racists in Mississippi, and South Africa were.

I must congratulate Danyael for a very powerful analysis into the mentality of not only the Indo KKK, but also the more moderate Indians who are afraid to confront them, but who very easily will call you and I racists.

The treatment of Moses, Chris Ram, and Freddie K suggests that any Indian who leaves the "baad black man, good Indian" belief system can expect treatment even more vile than what these racists mete out to Indians.

This is the kind of fear mongering that lost the PPP the elections but it seems like they haven't learnt. No one (and by that I'm referring to the entire populace barring the corrupt few) in Guyana is crying because the corrupt and incompetent elite are being revealed and removed. In fact that's the reason the PPP were voted out - for their rank nepotism and corruption.

Now explain why when someone is removed that post shouldn't be filled by the most competent individual - bar none. Why should the criteria for filling the post be race based? Who then is subscribing to discrimination? I suggest this ghost writer get another job and the soup drinkers here crawl out from under the rock and see the light.

They remained silent because in their minds there was no war. Because they are Indian, it automatically entitles them to everything. The property of the state belongs to them and only them because they are morally, economically, financially, spiritually, socially superior to black man and Amerindians.

Black man and amerindian man are confined to what they, these "benevolent" indians let us have. They are the new slave masters, the new lords who we must bow to because of their superiority. We must eat the crumbs from their table. Anything less than that is unacceptable to them.   Indians like Moses, Ramjattan, Gilly et al are also recipients of their wrath. Penalty for not being indian enough.

The treatment of PPP blacks by the PPP does show that the PPP considered them tokens.

Only ONE PPP minister is now being forced to defend herself in front of the courts and that is a BLACK female.

Yet you all scream Indo Holocaust, clearly indicating that PPP blacks aren't worthy of being defended.  You all will happily throw them under the bus, to save your own Indian skins from being charged for corruption.

And please don't get me to defend against your claims that the AFC Indian faction lack clout, as I said long ago that they lack power.  If that is tokenism, then so it might well be.

FACT.  Indians like Chris Ram, Bulkan, and Roopnarine have no less influence on the coalition gov't than do blacks like Luncheon, and Robeson Benn have on the PPP.

Actually the PNC isn't a defunct party.  It exists and is the dominant entity within the coalition government.

Better to say that there isn't a PNC government, as within the leadership of the APNU/AFC exist representatives from other parties, with the AFC holding 40% of the cabinet positions, and over 1/3 of the MPs held by the coalition government.

PNC is always vibrant and alive with its headquarters established on the East Coast, Demerara.

APNU is comprised of the PNC and about five minuscule political organisations with the PNC having about 95% of APNU's membership.

David Granger is both leader of the PNC and APNU.

When you give Dumb Jackasses to run a Country that is the result you will get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indo Guyanese abroad are now scared of visiting Guyana. First they have to deal with a racist PNC government and a lawless Guyana filled with crime under the PNC.

Ramjattan should be fired immediately.

There is just too much hate and nonsense on this thread to comment on anything...everyone trying to UP their own race...its like tit for tat...a symptom of our society.

I find the contents of Danyael piece distasteful and riddled with half-truths...looking to condemn the Indian...its like his/her alter ego is Kean Gibson.

Here is an educated idiot. What a jackass!

He doesn't know what race or nationality he is, yet he continues to make asinine statements about Guyana.

I believe that the most competent individual must get the job. The questionsxarei - what are the qualifications, experience. Etc necessary tomensure that the person can do the job effectively, how do we identify that person, the process and was there a process in place for this to happen?

I think your understanding of wealth distribution in Guyana is dated. Really need to revisit Guyana or do some serious research.

Dude.....if you find it distasteful and riddled with untruths you are obliged to educate your fellow posters least they be swayed into flawed beliefs. One of the most distressing things about comments like yours is its presumption of knowledge and not its substantiation of such knowledge.

What I wrote is in the vernacular. Everyone from Nehru, to Cobra, to Skeldon man among others have stated in no uncertain terms that black people are idiots. They have forwarded the thesis that our problem is mainly the odium of having to live with black people.

It is also common knowledge the PPP, an indian identified party locates itself in an indian ethos and sell inclusiveness from that platform. For them it means inclusive of family and friends to loot the state.

I am not looking to condemn indian. I am looking to explain the inconsistencies of having a regime as the PPP fail so horribly in curtailing crime, in transitioning us to a democracy and whose modus operandi was to loot and pillage state coffers like voracious parasites and yet it  incited no recriminations from the posters here. Instead they are all like crows to carrion after Granger and crew and these people are in office less than 4 months!

Ms Gibson may be a bit off but not far off. There is no rational reason why Indians elevate themselves to be the chosen able race and all others regaled to the status of lesser than. It has to be vestigial remnants of psychological damage across eons as an oppressed class seeping across h time through the culture. Fortunately for us it pools only in mentality of a few so disposed it by being lazy. Apparently, these are well represented here.

I wonder how you come to know what I am? Unfortunately, you are merely expressing the symptoms of ancient damage I so often reference in the unrehabilitated dalit. My statements are asinine only because it leaves a bitter taste of the truth of it in your mouth. Such us always the case.
