Banna, if that was what he took in order to come up with the first hydro electric plant (niagara falls) the power used in electric vehicles, then erb should never have been illegal . He was quite brilliant (not unlike yours truly)

The hydroelectric power plant on the U.S side of the border is indeed the first large scale project built in 1881. The development now known as the Niagara Falls Hydroelectric Power was built in 1895.

The first hydropower project was built at Northumberland, Cragside in 1878 in England.

One of the earliest periods on record for the use of water power was about 200 BC in China.
