Reply to "Reflections on the ‘likely PPP picks’ for presidential candidate."

This is such crap....written by a PPP and Jagdeo supporter.

Antony, Texiera, Ali and Nandlall are people with loyalty to PPP but not charismatic and none have national appeal (not to say that the PNC or Granger has national appeal either, given the racial divide).

Yes, Jagdeo can mobilize the base but the hatred for Jagdeo outside the PPP (most PPP supporters think he is a Godsend) ) will make this one of the most tense and violent election in 2020, especially given the stake involved. There will be more fallout from the AFC and WPA but these parties will stick with the coalition because they do not have an influential electoral base to have a serious impact.

Its a PNC v PPP fight, as usual.

The elephant in the room is the court case to determine Jagdeo's eligibility to run again.

The PPP needs to revamp the party, change its constitution, bring in outsiders and make it a people's party, move out the loyalists, make the party more multiethnic and be more aggressive to challenge the coalition. The current leadership has given no indication it is willing to do any of this, as of now.

By all indications, the PPP will be out of power for a long time, judging by its current status.
