Glad that this was written by a black person. Because in reality only a black can tell a black how to act and behave. If someone of a different race tries telling them that is trouble

I only wish that Guyanese Indians had similar conversations about what ails their communities rather than criticizing blacks as they try to pretend that they are better.

Among the indentured ethnic groups that came to the Caribbean Indians rank LAST. Why did Indians trail their fellow Asians, the Chinese?  That is what you all should be chatting about instead of pretending that you all are better than blacks.

Good point.  Guyanese Indians have been asking themselves why Asian Indians and even Bengalis are making great progress even though they speak with an accent and don't dress that well.  Some say we inherited some lazy man culture from Guyanese society.

you came from a culture that for 6000 years never knew any success, were not expected to be successful and remained in the morass of laboring at the bottom of the society and never   overcoming that status.

In Guyana Indians became more than they were equal to any in their homeland or the world. If there was anything to inherit here culturally it could easily be deduced a culture of work. A slave was not around long if he or she was lazy! However we know it was more than that. It was an opening to a different kind of living the post colonial life
