Gujar Khan—Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistanis are brave nation and they know how to defend their frontiers and entire nation.

He said this while addressing a large public gathering at his native town in Gujjar Khan on Tuesday.

“The people and army will protect each and every single inch of the country”, he maintained.

Pervez Ashraf said that “No power in the world can frighten us, as we are brave people and know how to defend our soil and its integrity. This was also evident at many occasions in the past.”

He referred to the recent attack at Minhas Airbase in Kamra and paid rich tribute to armed forces for thwarting the terrorists’ nefarious designs.

The prime minister said all the problems and challenges being faced by the country can be resolved only through democracy and democratic system based on sound footings, as democracy represents the will of masses.

“Democracy, democracy and more democracy provides solution to every problem. Democracy represents the will of Pakistani people,” he remarked.

Earlier, on his arrival at native home “Sanghar House” Raja Pervez Ashraf was warmly welcomed by the people of his constituency. He also met with the elders of his constituency and exchanged Eid greetings with them.

Addressing a public meeting in Gujjar Khan, Raja Pervez Ashraf said credit goes to the PPP and its allies for restoring 1973 Constitution to its original form. He said the powers that a dictator had snatched from the parliament were restored voluntarily by President Asif Ali Zardari.

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that general elections are not far off and PPP leaders and workers should prepare for them.

The Prime Minister said the PPP Chairperson and President Asif Ali Zardari have asked workers and elected representatives of the Party to gear up for elections.

The Prime Minister underlined the need for discarding politics of hatred. He said divisive politics has damaged the country and it is time to promote unity and harmony as our end objective is service of Pakistan.

He said this is because the PPP believes in democracy and empowerment of people. He said history bears testimony to the fact that PPP struggled hard and even sacrificed lives of its leaders to strengthen democracy and defend rights of the people.

The Prime Minister said there is no cause for despondency as the nation has resilience to overcome challenges. He said the Government and armed forces are vigilant to foil designs of internal and external enemies and the attack on Kamra proved it beyond any doubt. Prime Minister said the people and the Armed Forces will jointly safeguard every inch of the country.

Recounting the achievements of the last four and a half year‚ the Prime Minister said as a result of pro-farmer and pro-agriculture policies‚ the country has become wheat-exporting country. He said that the people supported PPP in difficult times. He thanked Co-Chairman PPP President Asif Ali Zardari‚ the coalition partners and the people who chosen him for the slot of Prime Ministership. The Prime Minister said President Asif Ali Zardari reposed confidence in a PPP worker for running the government’s affairs. He lauded the services of the security forces‚ provincial governments for the maintenance of law and order situation on Eid day.

On the occasion‚ several prominent figures of Gujjar Khan announced to join PPP.

Earlier‚ Prime Minister Pervez Ashraf exchanged Eid greetings with the citizens at his residence in the hometown Gujjar Khan.

Meanwhile‚ in an interview‚ Prime Minister said he still remembers Eids of his childhood.

He recalled how he celebrated Eid days of his childhood in his village in Gujjar Khan and Sanghar. He said Eids of childhood are remembered forever because these are spent with parents.
