A militia is better than a standing army for a small country like Guyana. Why are they asking questions? The GPM has always been open to all Guyanese and has included all Guyanese. The regional trainers were always as mixed. The PPP should examine their own brainwashing of indos to understand the deficiency of their ethnic group in the military.
The GPM was incorporated into GDF as a reserve battalion. Reservists are not full time soldiers. What's the rationale for making them a separate entity again? The biggest difference between Militias and Regular Army besides part time vs full time is one reports directly to the Army Command and the other is regional. That's why a lot of the time you see "Local" in front of militia. We don't have separate regional governments. The militia will have a separate chain of command reporting ultimately the President/commander in chief. It's a waste of time and money. Keep them as reservists.
The GPM became 2nd brigade in the GDF and promptly stopped training reservists. In effect, it was shutdown by the PPP, not incorporated. There has not been any recruitment of reservists or training for a while.

First of all, no one said anything about a Large standing army. Second, what will be the role of a Militia in Guyana? What will their different objectives be? Who will they be paid by? To whom will they be reporting?
Your questions suggest you don't know what you're talking about. How then did you conclude the GPM is unnecessary? I said something about a large standing army. I repeat, the militia can serve Guyana better than a large standing army. If you know nothing about the GPM, on what are your objections based?
