Following inclement weather that forced last weekend’s play to be postponed, the 2018 Milo schools’ under-18 football tournament continued yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground with three matches.

In the first match which begun at 16:30hrs, Annandale Secondary added to the woes of the Caramel Secondary school team with a 10-1 drubbing. The East Coast based Annandale were led by Omari Glasgow who netted four goals in the rout after his team-mate Marick Alli had given the side a early lead when he netted in the fifth minute.
Jemar Robinson and Troni Semple were very much a part of the action and the duo netted double goals for Annandale, while Trevor Fiffee etched his named into the scoresheet with a solitary strike in the 29th minute.
After Annandale had already plundered 10 goals, Darren Niles scored a penalty in the 63rd minute of the 70 minutes match to add consolation to Caramel’s cause.
Caramel were also on the receiving end of a 12-0 drubbing from three-time defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation during the opening day of the tournament which is also being sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) through the theme: “There is no excuse for violence.”
Up to press time, Chase were 2-0 up against a battling performance from Friendship Secondary. The results of that game and the final fixture from yesterday’s play will be featured in tomorrow’s issue of Kaieteur Sport. (Calvin Chapman)
