Good government and good leadership lead. It means worthy leaders have the ability to make social actors move in ways they did not intend but that produce salutary effects.
Indeed Hoyte was as all guyanese leaders of poor caliber. The PPP did not do much to ameliorate the discontent and suspicions in his community. Instead the consolidated their friends and patronage system, neglected constitutional reform and in the end created a fiercely divided society that now is clearly cut along ethnic lines.
APNU, like the PPP is following the same trajectory. Tholhere is no other option but for a third party intervention. I do not know that the present one can cut it but The reality is that the PPP or the PNC means our people will remain divided and our nations coffers an open grab bag for whatever party holds office.
