An East Bank Demerara (EBD) woman was over the weekend allegedly severely beaten by her ex-husband and his common-law wife when she turned up at their home to collect their children. Following the allegation, a report was made to the Police and the couple, along with the ex-wife, appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, all charged with assault. They were each released on $10,000 bail. Reports are 32-year-old Sally Khan went to pick up her children aged 5 and 11 from their father at his Peters Hall, EBD home. After the mother of two arrived, an argument ensued which resulted in a scuffle between herself and her ex-husband. She alleged that the man tied her to a chair and he, along with his common-law wife, beat her. The case is expected to continue on January 17.
