Cops probe gang-rape of 13-yr-old girl
POLICE on the Essequibo Coast are said to be investigating a report that a 13-year-old girl was recently raped by several men.According to reports, the girl who is a secondary school student has said that several young men-as well as an elderly man-had sexually assaulted her.
Meanwhile, Region 2 APNU+AFC Councillor Naithram, is calling on the Probation and Welfare officers of the Pomeroon – Supenaam region to pursue the matter.
The councilor, speaking at the statutory meeting of the RDC yesterday, said the terrified child and her relatives need to be given more attention in terms of counselling.
Region 2 Chairman Devanand Ramdatt has also called for the matter to be properly investigated.
