Female ‘king-pin’ snared in Essequibo, Berbice drug bust

 

A SEARCH on a house last Saturday at Perseverance, Essequibo Coast unearthed three kilos of cocaine and 38 grams of marijuana, following an intelligence-led operation.Three men and a woman have been arrested and are in police custody, assisting with their investigations. In addition, two other males were arrested in a simultaneous operation in Berbice that was interrelated.
According to reports, investigators targeted a well-known ‘drug house’ which supplies a wider drug trafficking network responsible for distribution within various communities in Guyana.
Police from Georgetown, who visited Essequibo to support ‘G’ Division ranks, saw the arrest of a woman who is known as a major player in the drug operation. She was identified as Laurna Scott, and had been on the law enforcement radar for a long time.
The operation was monitored over several months, following which intelligence revealed that the woman was responsible for supplying cocaine and other illegal substances to the Berbice district. Consequently, there was a simultaneous search of a house in Berbice where other persons connected to the drug operations were arrested.
The woman and her male accomplices are in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Georgetown assisting with the ongoing investigations.
Last week, four Guyanese nationals were nabbed in a major drug operation by officers attached to Drug Squad of the Royal Grenada Police Force, resulting in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, ammunition and firearms.
This year has seen a large number of drug busts with cocaine being found in a range of export commodities, Meanwhile, a long-awaited permanently-staffed United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) office will be set up here by mid-January next year.

th lady has a lil bit of weed and coke so she is another mid level handler.The real drug lords are moving hundreds of kilos of cocaine. The PPP feared the DEA and refused them entry  for a long time. It is their buddies who are deeply engaged in the trade.
