This is a glorious opportunity for the PPP, Dr. Jagdeo and Ramotar. They can offer to take it over and run it for a profit.

With their long experience, deep knowledge of the sugar industry and workers' confidence, GAWU and NAACIE could be joint owners or major shareholders in a new company. In other parts of the world, trade unions are managing industries once owned by corporations and governments.

Not going to work. Labor costs are a huge part of Guysuco's productions costs and to reduce these costs to allow Guyana to compete in global markets there will have to be massive reductions in the labor force.

If APNU were smart they would in fact make this offer and then watch while the PPP and others refuse to fall into that trap.  Jagdeo has no intention of being blamed for dismissing 2/3 of the workers and shutting down all the less productive estates.
