Why does the USA have this obligation. In fact our intervention into this powder keg has made what is already a bad situation (Sunni vs. Shia, and Bedouin vs. urban) conflicts even worse.

We ought to ignore these people much as we ignore South Sudan. In fact the latter presents a much greater humanitarian disaster as there isn't even an infrastructure that allows humanitarian aid to be delivered.
